Mold while drying

I harvest a OG Kush plant, put it in a card board box and hung branches of trimmed bud to dry on strings.

Almost two days in I inspected the buds and found the biggest cola having bud rot at the top of it. I saw a small white patch with cobweb looking stuff, opened the bud up and saw discoloration. I cut off the entire top of the branch and threw it out. I then took all the remaining branches and inspected them and found no signs of mold. But I am worried about spores, so I gave them all a bath in hydrogen peroxide water solution and dried them in front of a fan like George recommends.

I believe the problem happened because the area is not fully sanitized and the temp got to low while drying. Humidity was about 55.

I now have them hanging in 80°f, 35-40% humidity drying. They are drying way faster than any previous harvest.

Sooo..i see no signs of mold on any of the other buds. I checked with a black light and the only green that showed up were small strands from string I used to hold up some branches during flower. Under a magnifying glass I see no signs. The bud looks bright and healthy. I'm just stressed about possible mold spores that I can't see. I should have looked at the moldy bud under black light for comparison or to see if it's even true the mold shows green.

Any suggestions?

I could just decarboxylation it and make butter. Would that be ok if there were some hidden spores?

Thanks for any help

Just keep going. Cut out the bad stuff and let it dry. Dry the air a little more. Don't use moldy bud. At all. I smoked white mold once and got the worst upper respiratory infection. 2 z packs and 3 prescriptions later. But anyway. Make sure you trim your growing plants clean. I've only ever had bud rot when I don't trim properly and leave shit behind

if you have mold inside the bud, it most likely happened a while ago and not from drying process... you HAVE to make sure your room does NOT go over 50RH (in fact i'd say 40RH to be safe) when lights are on and most definitely off. what you may want to do is wash your buds.

I dried the rest out and went through them with a microscope, breaking open the buds and I couldn't find any more sign of mold. The rot was in the main kola and I think your right in that it happen before I harvested. I believe I have fixed the environment issues.

I'm thinking of buying a cloth closet and hanging my next harvest in that with a small fan at the bottom and a flap open at top. Seems better than a cardboard box.

On another note. I decided to make a large batch of cannabutter. Even though I found no more mold the whole harvest is tainted and a mind fuck.

I went to decarb at 220°for 45 minutes but passed out for 5 hours...or so =)

I honestly thought I wrecked all the bud.But It looked like it normally does when I decarb. Not burnt. It's possible my oven is not as hot as the switch says. So I went ahead with the cannabutter thinking worse case I get a headache from it and pass out. I put it in a crock pot for 3 hrs instead of my normal 6+ and it turned out great. Golden instead of green and very potent. In the future I think I'll decarb for 2 hrs.
