Moon Lighting?

12 hours of moonlight would give 1/500,000th of 12 hours of sunlight. That's not going to make a great deal of difference.:weed:

more like 1/30th.

Sun = 10,000 lumens per sq. ft.
Moon = 340 lumens per sq. ft.

you know 5 hour energy is only 15 calories. That's like 1/135 of our daily diet. But that's enough to make a difference.

And it would be less than 12 hours of moonlight, probably more like 7-9.

No, Psychopassive is correct in his figures, and I can clear up this confusion for you regarding moonlight:

Your figure of 340 lumens per square foot is not accurate, and I gather your research about moon light was based on measurements taken during the Apollo landings.

At the Earth-Sun distance, maximum solar illumination is about 10,000 lumens per square foot; however, if the Sun is not directly overhead its rays will strike the surface obliquely. This decreases the intensity of sunlight per unit area. A typical Sun elevation during the Apollo landings was about 20 degrees, thus the illumination per square foot was about 3,400 lumens. Since the Moon's surface reflects about 10% of the light it receives, each square foot of surface reflected about 340 lumens.
source.

The 340 lumen measurement was based on the amount of light reflected back from each square foot of THE MOON'S SURFACE. This is not even close to the amount of light that eventually hits the Earth, which is 1 lux or less (1 lux is one lumen per square meter).

Honestly, moonlight is not very bright at all. It only appears that way to us because of the way our eyes work.

this thread has been really interesting.

imaginative theory, but if 340 lumen is not enough to initiate photosynthesis than i don't see how it would effect anything :joint:

I still say it doesn't have anything to do with photosynthesis and has more to do with hormonal shifts in the plant.

haha maybe its plant puberty, wonder if they get growing pains, and the trichs would be acne. Sorry it was just a funny thought.
