More whining about size

Plants are about three weeks old. 18/6 under 3x 65 CFL and a few hours of sunlight when possible. I'm careful with watering and have only fed them twice with 1/4 strength commercial fert. Miracle Grow kind of stuff.
There's a humidifier in the grow box and a small fan. They're in 3.5" diameter by 3" tall pots.

I see photos of three week old plants that look like friggin' trees compared to mine.

What's going on ? Not enough light ? Do I need to fert more ? I've got some 600 watt lamps coming.

Are you planning to upsize your pots ? I would pull one and look at the root plug , is it root bound ? ... Yeah at 3 weeks it should be a bit more grown . Maybe stunted.

I re-potted recently and the roots are far from root bound. They don't look so good either.

Yeah I would transplant into new soil . Water only ( PH in range ) no nutes . See if your plants will self adjust and clear the problem. Sometimes there is a toxicity issue from early on. I think they are going to be ok though. Too bad you lost a couple of weeks on them.


And of course I hope they all females ! :grin:

I have the plants very close (2-3 inches) to my CFLs. Is it possible they're too close ?

Drivin' me nuts.

Distance is ok , but most don't know that most of the lumens come from the sides of the CFL bulbs. I also turn plants every couple of hours ,if possible.

Good luck .they sound like some bomb ass strains.

I had the same problem! I couldn't believe other guys plants that were tall and beautiful after 3 weeks. I had about the same wattage cfl as you. As soon as I transplanted, stopped overwatering AND added HPS lighting things got so much better. I also upgraded to a tent with legit exhaust so that helped too I think. Good luck!

Anytime you start plants in a small starter container like that, not mouch larger than a bug solo cup from what I can tell by your pic, it only takes 2 weeks or so until they need transplanted. Drooping and stunted growth is the classic symptom of being root bound. Transplant and water throughly and they should start growing big time.

I started in those shitty little "peat pot" things but transplanted into the ones shown in the photo a few days ago. I assure you they are not root bound. I wish you were right, Triplec.

I keep the plants very lightly watered.

Hmm, I'd sure like to see the roots. Pop a plant out and take a pic of the roots.
