Howdy folks,

Its that time. The mushrooms are poppin, we got some this morning!! Springs a swingin' and I have been enjoying the woods finding great spots for a few Auto seasons! It looks like a good year for poly hybrids~ anyone else agree?

It would be nice to hear some stories from your neck of the woods! Chime in MI!

Went out myself today and faced the most brutal hunt of my life this far and I have hunted mushrooms since the late 70's . Today the weather was unpredictable but I knew with the recent rains that some morels might be found .

Got my gear all set and a few fatties rolled up , it was raining so they were packed accordingly in a ziplock . All set and I was off in the rain knowing less people would be out due to this .

Once on the hunt again , I spotted my favorite Ash grove and headed in , after a few miles of tree hunting I found myself surrounded by a damn spring snow squall and a heavy one at that . It got really cold and wetter than anticipated while the ground grew white faster and faster . I continued on and found my first in the snow and it was very hard to see , much more so than normal as the Blacks are a bitch to see in the woods most times not . But I had spotted one and knew that there was more and I did find a few more blacks ..

Once I had gotten back to my truck I only had four morels and some cold ass feet and hands but I had one last place to check before I called it a short hunt . My favorite area that always turns up some morels was not quite ready but I did find a few flushes of whites while there and that made the day worth it all .
Again I made way back towards my truck and pulled some leeks as well for the dish I was planning in my head to avoid the cold wind cutting into my face . The wind chill was below zero and everything was white but no matter I had claimed victory once again as this previous weekend I only found 3 :(

Hopefully the warm weather will return soon here as we need it for a decent season as thus far it is one of the shittiest on record !

LOL, awesome story for the books ProfessorPotSnob!

Moreling in the snow! Nice!

Mid to east side of the state is cold, but we missed the snow thus far. Finding Blacks and VERY FEW whites. Asparagus is up too.

80's by mid week next. Should be good hunting with the cold and wet followed by warm sunny. (FYI, old wild fire or burn sites are good spots after snow to hot.)

So, since the "Shut down" I took 48 of my plant count and ran a whole room for breeding Auto beans.. three select males were allowed to blow genes at free will, and I have been filling jars with cannabeans & rice, for days now. I wont be working with raw meds this fall; all concentrates. AF Oil Season! I think I will finally have the chance to maybe get rid of this damn brain tumor! :D

More snow squalls for us above the 45 Th Parallel again today .. Going back out tomorrow , as I know there will be more then of decent size . Not expecting much larger than thumb size with this cold rain though . Hopefully the weather will warm and allow them to swell later this week ..

I have a place to pick Big Foot Morels at the end of the month and some of them get HUGE so there is still hope no matter lol

The past few days of rain has really put spring into perspective here once again . Since my last post I had only found a few random morels due to the weather here and lack of rain . Now that we have had a few showers I headed back out this foggy morning ..

It was wet outside from last nights rain and I knew that the weather is on once again to head back out to a few secret spots of mine .. It was fun as within an hour I led my wife to 3 spots yielding very close to ten pounds .

The blacks are done here and the greys too for the most part , most of what I found today were blondes , whites and a few Big Foot . Could sell this harvest for a few hundred easily but I am going to feast and share instead !

Grilled Mahi Mahi with fresh picked morels, aspargas, and saddles for dinner last night... hashberry cheese cake finished it well!

Autos are in the ground! FYI, Home Depot (and others) sell a rubber coated fencing (dog/rabbit) that is black or green. The sell it in several length's. The three foot section cut in to a length of 4 feet makes a nice 2 foot diameter cage to secure around each plant site; it really helps keep critters out while they get going. Deer seem to leave them alone, no rabbits, etc. Being black/green, they hide well.

Good luck folks! Were heading back out today. Cool week end comming up, mushroom seasons shaping up!
