30-40c? LOL..thats like our normal night time temps in Ozz in summer...lol
Haha but we're all roasting, we are not used this shit! I just wonder if that's what caused the foxtailing because the plants are also not used to it? I've raised the lights a bit too in an effort to cool things down a bit. I also turned the lights off 30 minutes early last night, not because of this, but I'm thinking less light hours should help. Seems logical to me anyway?30-40c? LOL..thats like our normal night time temps in Ozz in summer...lol
Yeah this time of year is a bitch to maintain heat levels especially just coming off our cold spell that we had so i know exactly what you're talking about! I know it may be a bit late now but you can pick up a really cheap inline fan from amazon which i have attached to the reflector hood blowing cold air from outside on to it ( cheap mans reflector hood ).. my temps were 32's-35c and now they're around 27-30c, not ideal but i know once the hood is purchased and contained the cold air will run over the bulb and bring my temps to a steady 22-25c.. It can be a pain figuring all these things at the end but don't stress about the fox tailing sometimes can be hereditary causes or too much co2, what is your current RH?The white widows are foxtailing! Couldn't quite work out what that meant until I saw it on one of the plants last night, the big beastie sprawling one in the corner, then this morning they all have them. We're struggling with temps for the first time though too, summer has just popped in in the good old uk and suddenly my flower room is up between 30-40c! No doubt it won't last long though... We've opened the door up to let more air in and all fans are on full. Do I need to worry? We're at day 52 of flower. I knew I'd had it too easy the last few months and now everything is happening all at once!
Cheers man, the last two days were just brutal on the temps, I'm a bit worried how I'm gonna grow through summer now although I suppose it's more the fluctuations that are a problem and if it's hot all the time that won't be such an issue. Shame I live in England! I've been looking at clip on fans to blow over the lights, there's already two fans on/amongst the plants then the big 16 inch one in the corner but it's the canopy that gets hot, I really do need to rig something up to sort that but hopefully we're on it for now. I never got an RH meter, it was one of those things I meant to get and never quite got round to, like a pH meter. We had some issues halfway through financially that turned it into even more of a budget grow than it was meant to be, we are making so many sacrifices to get these plants through to the end and I really need to not fuck them up!Yeah this time of year is a bitch to maintain heat levels especially just coming off our cold spell that we had so i know exactly what you're talking about! Cheers man. My uncle used to live in Australia, he said they used to fry eggs on the car bonnet! It's more the fluctuating that worries me, cos they had definite heat stress yesterday, but I think we're on top of it now. Just lucky I'm not one of these people that can only get to check on their plants once a week or something!Just to relive ur fears a bit.
I once lived in the North Kimberly of Western Australia. Inland from Derby (google it). Its fkn red desert. Gets Hot..i mean so fkn hot the dirt burns ur feet hot. u Poms would melt hot (no offence ment..just said as context) Pot loved it..as long as it could drink,....Did i mention LOVED IT?
Here is a pic of a doob rolled out of the foxtailed tips. As you can see it is virtually indistinguishable from a doob rolled out of non foxtailed buds. And I can assure you it will smoke perfectly, and nock my socks offScraggly foxtails, day 53 of flower period.
I have cut the lights back an hour a day so they come on 30 minutes later and off 30 minutes earlier. Going to gradually decrease lights to 10 hours, I think. I'm cutting back their bloom fert and no more pk boost. I've increased air flow through the whole room and raised the lights up a couple of inches. I'm hoping this will all send signals to the plant, "WINTER IS COMING, STOP THROWING OUT NEW GROWTH!!"
So if I can stop them wanting to foxtail now, can I prevent my yield from being fucked up? I'm hoping that, if it doesn't get any worse, they'll be able to just fatten up and fill in the gaps they've made and dense up nicely and.... not ruin my bud?

Haha thanks, I was hoping you'd say something like that! So you don't think it'll affect more than aesthetics then? I've been reading horror stories of airy, crappy buds for days! Yours certainly don't look like it's done them any harm. I actually think they look kind of cool tooHere is a pic of a doob rolled out of the foxtailed tips. Most of the horror stories you ready are from new growers with horrible grow conditions. I know a lot of great growers who look at foxtailing as a sign of packing on weight. If you had 4 or5 weeks to go, then you might want to worry a little. Your buds look chunky enough at this point, it would take weeks to stretch them out.here is an after pic of the foxtailed doob. As you can see, we hardly put a dent in itHaha thanks, I was hoping you'd say something like that! So you don't think it'll affect more than aesthetics then? Oh good, thanksI have nseen WAY worse flowers.
Proper ventilation and air movement along with keeping rh in check is the key.Oh no not worse than spider mites! I've been praying not to get spider mites for months, literally, and I go and get something worse?! The universe is a funny bastard! I had a deionizer thingy, my bf broke it, I knew this'd be his fault somehow!! Oh well, just have to deal with it now. I said if I find any more we're just gonna have to cut them down early, which will break my heart after fighting to get them this far, but c'est la vie, fingers crossed. I've put an extra fan in there and we're being hyper vigilant checking them over. Am I better with temps cooler or warmer, or does it make no difference?
Are you extracting the air? If so how many cfms? The white widows are foxtailing! Oh I forgot about those, yeah I have 2 in there cos we had some issues with condensation early in flower and had black mold around the windows in other parts of the house so I clamped down on it fast to try keep it away from the plants. One is on the windowsill in the main room and one on a shelf above the grow.Proper ventilation and air movement along with keeping rh in check is the key.
If you got a dollar tree around they carry these moisture removing things. They are for lowering humidity. I propbaly will go against the grain. I prefer low humidity in flower.
We are nowhere near that advanced yet unfortunately. We have an area of a spare room partitioned off, we chose that rather than a tent because I thought it was a better option for air flow and temperatures as I couldn't have afforded the sort of setup I'd have wanted for the air conditioning/exhaust. This is just a first run to see whether growing is a feasible option and cover the costs of the equipment. There is a 9 inch and 6 inch fan amongst the trunks of the plants and a 16 inch fan in the corner of the room outside of the sectioned off grow area. That's the best I can do right now.Are you extracting the air? If so how many cfms?
I would leave them on 24/7. If it feels like it's getting to warm, you may have to add more fans.Quick question anyone, if I'm starting a dresser growbox soon would i be able to use 4 orion DC 40 cfm (computer fans) 2 for pulling air in 2 for pushing air out? How often should I turn fans on an how long.. BTW I'm a newbie at this so
But 4 of those fans should be a nice starting place you think? I'm kinda on a low budget, an temps should stay 70-85 F right?I would leave them on 24/7. If it feels like it's getting to warm, you may have to add more fans.
Look into a ventech fan on amazon. They are dirt cheap and reliable. Mine has been running for a couple years now pretty much non stop. I'm going to order a second one. When the first one quits I will rebuild it.Oh I forgot about those, yeah I have 2 in there cos we had some issues with condensation early in flower and had black mold around the windows in other parts of the house so I clamped down on it fast to try keep it away from the plants.
