Hahaha word Purpdaddy. Finally you put this up Motif! God man, we were wondering when you'd show the RIU world your girls. They look nice man and don't worry, we got some rust spots ourselves. Just moved the lights away a bit and added nutes (ours were probably cause of K def, we had just given them full tanks of clean water for a while).

Our girls are at about 33 days, check out the new pics. We just can't wait to harvest em though!

Ive already diagnosed the problem, heres what i think, it was nute lock-out because i pH'd my water to about 5.5 BEFORE adding my nutes. So after adding them im assuming it dropped another point to prolly around 4.5. Reason being, i dont think my tapwater is too harsh, when i add my nutes without adjusting the pH, the pH ends up being exactly what my "Recipe For Success" chart claims it to be (pH=6.02, strong yellow with slight hint of orange on dropper kit). I also always pour a plentiful amount of straight water through the rockwool and hydroton each time i change the res to clear up any salt build up.

It only took about 4-6 days for it to do the damage it did on my fan leaves and creep close to my buds. So i dumped the water, and gave it a 5-6 day flush of pre pH'd water 6.0 and Watermaxx Water treatment (1-2 ml/gallon)

I think the water treatment shit is honestly just like h202, it doesnt say exactly what is in it on the bottle But i been using it at 2 ml per gallon for the entire grow and my roots arent ugly looking, maybe a bit smaller than what i expected, but they arent dirty!

heres where we are today fellas...

pic 1 = my flowering nutes

pic 2 = cal mag replacing my magical (havnt started using yet)

pic 3 = Recipe For Success (pH=6.02, EC=2.6ms/s, ppm=1430)

pic 4 = Recipe For Success Flower Stage Doses (consistent throughtout entire flowering, doesnt change)

pic 5 = Plant Food With an Attitude - Holland's Secret (i used this for flowering till i ran out of their bloom, which happened last week) Now back to using Recipe For Success Nutes..

pic 6 = Left off these nutes at week 7 (ppm=746 (macro) + ppm=430 (micro) so about 1176, now back to Recipe for Success nutes on all plants.

pic 7 = fan blowing off lamp heat (slightly tilted UP) Air = 83 F Humidity = 42% (temps near top canopy)

pic 8 = water temp = 69.6 F Air = 75 Humidity = 52% (temps near bottom canopy)

pic 9 = height of lamp from indica = 31" from sativa = 23" (tallest canopy on right side, measured diagonally to bulb)

pic 10 = fan blowing up from underneath, circulating

pic 11 = THE WHOLE FAMILY! :):)

im gonna give my sativa clone a good strong 5 weeks of veg, maybe 6, THEN switch to 12/12 and lollipop the shit outta it! Lol

i want colas like M Blaze has, but without the 8 foot tall plants, so i got it tied down like a biotch right now. Ive never vegged for more than 3 weeks i dont think, so this shud be interesting :weed::weed::weed::weed:

Hey roseman, would a 696 gph eco plus commercial air pump for three 5 gallon buckets, not be just as sufficient as the feeding tubes going into the cups? Loved your root mass you got from that method tho...very intriguing. I just dont know if im willing to "add more" to this grow... i feel i put in enough and now im just waiting for it all to pay me back for it :leaf::hump:

Did you see Squarepusher's Sativa grow? He Flowered 22 weeks!

Great setup!

My only secret is roots love an air bath, and as often as I can, I expose them to Air. I always leave a two inch air pocket, but I also drain the tank as often as possible.

Roseman I used all your info and tips ever since the first grow:) your very wise, it shows, and I found that out by personal experience!

I like to let my roots drink as far as they can reach the nutes (still don't reach very bottom of bucket). Sometimes I let them sit a few days when they can't reach the nutes. Then I give em a strong fresh dose and BOOM:)

I havnt checked out thrashers or the other sativa grower you speak of, yet, but I will when I gert home from work.

hey man i do grow sativas but mostly indicas..my advice to you is topp them alot to keep them short and bushy.GOOd LUCK!

If you need to keep your sativa girls at more manageable height don't veg for that long mate.
With a clone you could veg for 2 -3 weeks max', then into 12/12.
By the look of your trunk on the ones you got going at the moment you did top early which is good.
...But I think you must have vegged them for two long that's why they're so fucking tall.
Sativas will easily triple in height when put into 12/12.
Work out your max height you want them at for your set up, then divide that figure by 3.
This will tell you how tall they need to be when put into 12/12 to keep them manageable.

I just harvested my 3 tall ass sativas,
Here is a rundown.
4x5x8' closet----totally ran out of space by half way tru the grow
3 sativa power skunk one each in a 5 gallon bucket
Veg for 4 weeks, went to flower they were 24" tall....at max height they went to 84" tall, thats 7 feet, notice that is 3.5 times as high, by harvest they were only 6 feet tall due to droopage of the heavy ass buds, but they did hit the celing for 3 or 4 weeks before they got to heavy to stand up.
Grown under 400w mh and flower under 400w hps. Also had an additional 4 85w cfl and 4 43w cfl's.
Used only the GH Flora series for nut's and at the last 2 months added some GH Kool Bloom. 2 to 4 weeks flush at the end.
Total dry harvest 22+ ounces
Oh also I strongly believe in using Hygrozyme to keep the roots healthy.

Oh and one more thing, you can't harvest by tric color on a sativa cause the tric's, or at least mine didn't, never turn milky or amber, they stayed clear to the end. I had to harvest cause the plants were 50% dead and any more time would have affected the harvest. However the bud's turned out fucking execlent!! Damn near the best weed I have ever had, and people love it.

I also noticed that when switching from grow to bloom nut's don't stop using a little grow nut's along with the bloom nut's, the directions may say otherwise but my plants needed extra nitrogen that the bloom nut's wern't giving them.
And yes, it took 22 full weeks from seed to harvest. But I got 22 dry ounces. Also IMHO you cannot make them grow any shorter by topping them a lot, when you do side branches will quickly resume the tall growth, I topped mine 3 to 4 times to no effect, just got more buds tho, which is good but it didn't effect how tall they got.

I followed Squarepusher45's Sativa grow and journal for over 4 months, and it was amazing. He's really an expert at Sativa growing. He grows trees.

motif bro, lots of great advice as usual from the members here at RIU

for height containment I think by using the smaller containers, is how I've manged to keep them at about 4 feet until harvest, they are only 2.5 gallon..I just figured that if the roots didn't have all that much room to expand, they would stay around that height.....now I haven't gone but with PPP at this time, so it's based on one strain, however, I will do the same with my White Rhino I just sprouted....

flowering girl is starting to fill out more and i see new stigmas poppin out everyday now

vegging clone is showing lots of available bud sites:sleep: She'll be getting another tie down tomorrow; as well as her start into flower under the T5.

indica girl is filling out nicely and getting sum fat colas which i like very much:mrgreen::mrgreen:

thanks for stoppin by thrasher! i absorb all info like a sponge, thx for the tips. Yeah this strain looks pretty fucking sweet i cant wait to try it, and compare an actual sativa vs indica side by side...that i grew! It also looks like its gonna be a heavy yeilder for sure, possibly somewhere between 3-5 oz's. My goal is anything over 4 wud be nice. My bloom nutes are flawless at the doses i use. I was just experimenting with Plant Food With An Attitude to see if it made a diff, but i only fucked shit up doing that hah...but im back to the original recipe and they are responding nicely to it. I add a lil bit of magical which consists of 2-0-0 and calcium and magnesium and aids well for the lack of N. The side branches on my clone already passed the cola tips haha so i know exactly what your talkin about.

interesting, geat to see ya here KB! ive actually been secretly admiring your grow for a while, i usually dont post too much and love to just read other people's journals. Nice harvest btw;)
