Move to Mexico? Brokenneck wants your input!

Hey Guys I hope you all are well and enjoying the fruits of your labors.

Some of you know I am San Diego Native, residing in East La. My little district is the Garment district of LA.

So here it is I have again the option to move south of the border. A three bedroom condo, and 10 minutes away from the condo. A 1/2 acre lot where I could do what I please. In addition to the lot there is a good possibility of obtaining the adjacent lot, another 1/2 acre plus.
New Rent = 3000 per mes OR 248.00US per month.

The condo 3 bdr in a gated community.
I currently get all kinds of flack from my East La Neighbors
They hate my Ganja smoke and that I smoke cigarettes too. So smoking at home is a problem now, air freshners, and incense cover up the smell but I want to cover the neighbors.
I know I could have an all out battle with the neighbors, landlord and inform them all I am medicating with approval, BUT they are all old school Mexicans.
I am not racist, people are people to me.

Since I am from San Diego and divorced, my kids are in SD and I have to drive 120 miles to see them. I have spoken with their mother and she too feels it would be beneficial if I were closer to my boys. Most all of my friends are in SD. Streets named after my family even.

What are my plans?
Grow Grow Grow. In MX they have legalized (up to 5G personal). They are watching for Prop 19.
Grow More! Use the two lots mentioned above for Farming and soon to be a home.
I can not own a damn thing down there but my friends (Brown and proud) can.

The city.. NOT Tijuana. Called Otay is more inland than TJ, less commercial.

now a lot of you who know no one who lives in mexico may have seen all of the drug cartel wars going on. These guys are a concern, however the city is far from the violence, more of a rural setting than a city setting.

I am actually thinking about using some of the knowledge I have gained here from growing marijuana as a medicine into growing fruits and vegetables.

Prop 19, many across the border are gearing up for prop 19. Mexico would love to legalize, and force the cartels out of Marijuana or to be legal. Mexico can see who much income it would bring in for tourism alone and they are very excited.
I have friends in and from Sinaloa, Guadlajara, DF, Tecate, TJ. When you live in SD and Love your herbs, you make some friends.

So what do you guys think, I am not looking to get into organized grime.
Just be a simple farmer, where my dollars can be worth a bit more.

I will be 20 minutes or so from the US border, closer to kids, friends, can change grow area from 4x4 to 8x8! All Bills go down, get to farm.

So what do you guys think? Stay in East LA, or shoot for a new little district.

Only thing I can think of is how is the climate to grow in? Will you have easy access to good water? Are your neighbors going to be ok with a pot farm next to them? Will you be ready to protect your crop from a likely thief?

Climate same as San Diego= Avg 72F less than 10 nights per year @32f or under. Rain 10"-20" per yr. 20 is flooding.
Herbs will be indoor 8x8. Outdoor will be Fruits and Veggies mostly.

Security- As for the land for the Fruits and Veggies I was thinking starting out with Fencing Perimeter, DOGS all kinds, and some smaller Halogens for lighting.
I should be living in the condo for up to a year, could be 6 mos. Lot and Condo are not far from each other.
NO RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS! I don't really like this, I do not have a firearm right now, and can not possess one there. BUT My friends father is very well accepted in the community (US Born married Mexican National) He has small arsenal, as well as employees on his farm that would be glad to lend a hand.

If I start thinking outdoor I will be thinking as stealth as possible.
When finally get things going I am thinking greenhouse, quiet, stealthy, and surrounded by Corn, Tomato, and a few others.

Oh ok, for some reason it sounded like you were growing herb outside from your original post. Inside will be much safer. Everything sounds good to me man, once you have everything in order I say go for it!

Now, don't get me wrong.
My family has been occupying this land where I am now, for what 600+ years, since they "Found" it.
I will not change my mailing address, voting status, Taxes, residency. I will still pay tax in the US, and California.
Eventually I will have a Medical Garden on the US side. I will just instead of being in this "Little District" it will have a different name.
I will hopefully be sharing a space with a friend for Meds until 1st Indoor.

What a long strange trip it has been! Made it to Mexico in 12/10, rent was $100.00US. Power was Stolen with wire from the pole, so that was free, Ran 600w tent and 2x6 cabinet. I stayed four years and built my own house!
Left Mexico for Washington state, met my brother who I never had met before, turns out he and my sister are in the medical market of California. Toured Washington grows and visited California grows on way back to San Diego California, Just in time to vote for the AUMA (21+ Cannabis use). I have since been involved in several California Medical grows with Licensing for up to 99 plants. Now no longer are we hiding in the shadows, I have been employed and servicing the industry working in cultivation, extraction and now International Cannabis education. My next endeavor might be taking me BACK TO MEXICO to discuss and educate on cultivation of the mexican government's medical cannabis program.
Mexico has legalized medical use, and the proponents are finalizing the roll out for their Adult Use regulations which will be similar to California's regulations in the next few years. Beginning several years ago an investment group formed with an interest in Cannabis in mexico. The investment group has gathered enough capital to move to it's next phase which is relocating me into the field. Minimum investment is 100k and there is a lot of interest internationally.
I have side projects too, I test grow with TGA Genetics, and also have my own cyber-grape strain that from what I have heard "soothes the savage beast" when administered to bi-polar manic depressive patients. Hey RIU thanks for holding my data so I could continue the saga! Oh Mexico Cannabis is $1.00 per gram and its only fault is the grow and cure process, the strains are decent, but their entire grow operation is outdated and has an 80 day cycle, which ensures prematurity, and without curing whatsoever all nugs turn brown and mold, But the seed can produce well if attended to by an avid cultivator. I was buying Qps for $100 and making ice/bubble and alcohol extractions and then retaining the seed to hunt for a winner. Many locals were interested in High Grade and hashish, but were under the impression that Hashish was extracted from smoking devices (Resin From Pipes) I had a hell of a time trying to explain that one. Here's the analogy I used; Hashish is only the resin glands (trichs) of the plant, the substance in your pipe is TOXIC, and contains heavy metals from the nutrients that were overfed and never flushed by the grower. This is why you see that Hissing and Bubbling. Good hash will bubble, and what you were smoking was giving you a headache because it is NOT hashish it is the material that would not ignite at the temperature obtained in your pipe. Some people in Mexico still have not understood what this means, but yeah there is a huge culture difference. If you are still reading you are a champ! This is a long one, but has a wonderful outcome.
Yesterday I contacted an extraction device manufacturer and needed to obtain a quote on a machine that I will to propose to a group of investors who have obtained the licensing to supply the medical market in a their country. This afternoon I share my findings with the firm. Today there is still very little High Grade in Mexico. Only one good harvest is produced (June-Oct) which hits the border region about christmas, it is green at the border for about a month then the only good harvest of the year is gone. Mexico will be competing with California in 5 years, mark my words Roll it up. Keep Growin!

It puzzles me no end that they don't have amazing weed in Mexico. All that sun and good genetics too you say?!
