moving and taking my plants

So looks like I'm moving and I'm taking my plants. This was my first year growing anything. I can't leave them. My wife agrees. They should be Ok if I dig them up and geopot them for a couple days I hope? Anyone have suggestions ?

if you have time, root prune the plants and water thoroughly and let set for a couple of days. then gently dig them up and put into a large pot or can for transport to the new site. replant and water well. GL

dude just dig a bigger hole then the you started with and when the plant is getting loose gently by hand go thru and loosen the roots and shake the excess dirt off and just set it in a big bucket.. lightly water it so the roots don't dry out.. when you get to your new home just do like you did when you started.. dig big hole and turn the dirt a few times before you put the plant in.. add plant in hole and water.. let the gods take her from there..

I was just thinking of taking the root ball with dirt. As opposed to shaking it off

try to get a root ball. it's easier if the soil is wet, not saturated, to get a root ball. if u can't get it in a pot then wrap the ball in plastic or better yet use burlap. if u use plastic don't forget to remove it before installing the plant in the new location. GL

I rent also always prepare for a move all my perennials are in pot's in case such things happen.:leaf:
