Moving Lights

Who has tried moving an overhead hps from position to position? Not necessarily automated, I'm thinking of moving it around manually some but am unsure what kind of schedule to use. One position for one day? 6hrs? 4 hrs?

Depending on your light setup, this could be a pain. I think it would be easier to rotate the plants instead.

you could realistically move it at whatever interval you would like but just try to keep it an even cycle so that way no plants miss out. how many plants are you growing and in how big of a space cause it might be almost a pointless goal if its not that many plants

I use an actual mover in veg to gain about a 20% bigger footprint with good results. In regard to rotation, I do rotate my plants on basically a daily basis in flower, but in regard to moving plants in and out of better light, I would maximize the light on your best girls, and leave the lesser ones in the side lighting. I think you would be doing yourself a disservice by sacrificing the light slightly on all the girls through rotation rather than making sure your best plants get optimal lighting as much as possible.

Not for redistributing the wealth eh? ;-)

I'm thinking of a new setup with a 2x3 (or even 2x4) array of dwc buckets for a total of 6 or 8 plants. I have a place where I can easily put up a double bar overhead that would hold a 600w hps sideways so it would be easy to slide from one end of the plant row to the other. I think a 600 should do 6 and this would perhaps stretch it to 8. It would also have light hitting each plant and different angles and therefore somewhat emulates the sun.
