Mr first grow

Hey all, Great forums love reading what everyone has been doing. Well me and the misses have decided to take teh plunge and do it.

Brought a 1mx1mx2m grow tent, 50l BioBizz All Mix, 6x6.5l wilma pots, IONIC Grow, Bloom and boost, 400w HPS lighting total was bang on £200. I still need filter and extractor but we are pretty much good to grow.

We have been unsure of which seed to get as there are just so many to try out there but i have pretty much opted for ICE found them for £18.80 for 10 seeds.

I will be getting some pics up within the next few days of what the setup will look like. I'm just itching to get growing its driving me mad but i know it will be well worth the wait.

Well here is the setup, just need to get the plants in. A friend of mine has some White Rhino and Northern Lights he is about to clone and will be giving me 3 of each to get me started, i hope to pick them up within the next couple of days.

Don't waste your money on seeds for your first grow. I guarantee you that ANY strain (pretty much) that you grow will blow your mind away. After you have done a grow, then consider ordering seeds. Plus it sucks ass when your plant dies that cost you 20 bucks lol. Just use some bag seed. Those clones will be nice though :bigjoint:.

Thats what he said, he's been growing 7+ years and he said the hardest part is getting the seed to grow, We are also gonna move on to Rockwool after first harvest as that is the best way to grow we have been reading. Yeah very much looking foward to that firs batch grown by me.

P.S when you say bag seed u mean seeds i find in my bag of weed?

i don't think growing from seed is hard to less cost effective. I found a place where i ordered 100+ feminized seeds for 60 bucks, plus some other feminized seeds. they came ONE WEEK LATER, WOW i was supprised, i thought it would take a few weeks to get here, plus i got some free ones for ordering so many....anyways

i think that it just takes extra steps and time, most people like to see a plant right away, i know i do, thats why people go with clones. But starting from seed is great because you can train from a baby you plant to eat the nutes you give it. when you get clones sometimes the mother plant has been using different nutes or different lighting, or maybe they were using co2 and you weren't, or mom was using soil and you are using hydro, these factors won't completely kill the clone, but its something the clone has to get used to

i just like seed ok, lol...clone are cool, i will be cloning me seeds once they grow so yah, i like em both

There are some seeds that will make things easier on you. Due to Genetics not every strain grows the same, some are much more tolerant of noobie mistakes and over attention than others. There are strains out there that are easier than others to grow is in essence what I am trying to convey here. My top strains with ease of growing are Big Bud, Northern Lights, Skunk #1 and White Widow, these strains are also heavy yielders so even if you screw up the whole grow ( and learn much in the process ) at least you usually get something to smoke on.

There are certainly lots of strains I have no experience with and can't claim to be an all knowing authority. I do know that all of my bag seed grows are dwarfed by my Good known genetics grows. Genetics has more to do with the outcome than people give credit for. Quality seeds usually end in quality harvests.

Well my friends plants arn't going to be ready for another week or two and that was just too long to have the kit sat there not doing anything, so i went to a Hydro shop in Northampton and purchased 5 feminised Big Budda Blue Cheese seeds. They have gone under some wet paper towels in a heated propagator in the grow room. So this is really day 0 of the grow, Will hopefully post everyday with hopefully some great results.

Day - 1 Big Budda Blue Cheese Fem

Been checking them today, went in first thing today the paper is was starting to dry a little so sprayed it with some water. It seems to dry pretty quick while in the heated propagator so I think I may have been checking more than I should but as this is my first grow most of you understand my itching fingers.

There was no sign of roots breaking through this morning so I put the lid back on and closed it up, the temp inside the propagator was at 24c. Went back about 20-30min ago and I think a root has started to come through on one of the babys.

Will check back on them a little later as i am worried that the water is drying up them.

Day - 2

Just been to check on them and 3 of the 5 have taproots coming out and 1 has a cracked shell. I'm gonna pot all off them this evening and stick back in the propagator.

We only have a 400w HPS light and i'm worried that when they come through the soil the light is either gonna stretch them or burn them. Based on others experiance what would be the best height for the light?

No just standard reflector. plan to make some upgrades next payday will take a look in to that.

A quick update got 4 that the roots are growing on. Its now been 2 days since they went in the propagator. The misses last nite soaked the paper as i was keeping it moist and they have come on strong since doing that. They are going in the pots in the next few hours cant wait.

if i were you i'd save time and money by not using that HPS until flowering. HPS emits more reddish spectrum, you want blue spectrum. Even though you can use this, your plants will grow very slow

buy some 48" Daylight florescents, not regulars, High Output ones (HO) these output 5k lumens of daylight (blue spectrum) this is what you want

use that, then HPS for flowering and you will love it!

The prob with that is i don't have the funds till the end of the month, I have a old aqurium FL but i know that won't cut the mustard. Once i get paid i've been long at a EcoSlimLine T5 Lighting

"The unique and versatile144w EcoSlimLine All Season Set is most excellent. Dr GrowGood recommends to first try 2x PURple + 4x White during the grow periods and 2x PURple + 4x Red during flowering and fruiting periods. A most excellent thing to try is experimenting with colour combinations with different strains and plant types."

I do wanna buy another tent as well for veg and have the 2 set up in the same room.

Potted all the seeds tonite all but 1 had shown its taproot.

Thats what i was gonna do, i just copied and pasted the description of the unit from there website. The idea is to buy another tent a little bigger than what i have now and turn that in to the flowering tent and the old one will host the T5 lighting for Veg and cloning then use the bigger one for flowering.

Day 3/4

Hey all nothing to report from yesterday it was today things really happend. Went in first thing this morning and just started to see the seed being pushed through the soil. Got the misses to check while i was at work and she said that they are coming through.

Got home and thought i would give a check and the leafs had started to come through with the seed still on the end of the leafs.

Well check them around 30mins to an hour and wow BC2 not a great picture but that was the slowest seed in germination and its now turning in to the fastest. BC1 was the fastest to get its tap root but has dropped speed somewhat compared to the others.

BC1

BC2

BC3

BC4

BC5

Quite surprised that all 5 have sprouted but am looking forward to the next few months.
