Mulching for Free !!!

I ‘m sure if you read this, you have used a little compost for your gardening career . However, you probably do not know that there are many other options for organic mulching that you can explore. These days , many gardeners are discovering new sources of free fertilizer that has been there all the time, an untapped resource . These include grass clippings , or woody prunings from other plants in your garden. You will be surprised how beneficial all these things can be , and how often the opportunity arises to use them.


Many gardeners have shed their excess grass clippings in the rest of your garden. You may think it will look tacky , with big pile of grass sitting in your garden as if you were too lazy to rake . However, if they spread enough, then you will not even be able to tell that there is a surplus. Leaving the extra grass on the yard acts as a sort of mulch by preventing evaporation and weed growth . With this extra water, you do not have to water nearly as much to keep your lawn green . When I started to leave my grass clippings, I had to adjust the frequency of my sprinkler system, because I feared my yard became too much water !

If your garden is in need of mulching your yard, it is not uncommon to rake all the grass and transport it to your garden. By making a small layer around the vicinity of the plant, the same benefits apply to leave it in your garden. My garden is pretty green on its own, but often have trouble with my plants remain green and healthy. So instead of leaving grass clippings in my garden , I’ll move my plants . However, if your size does not let you that big of a deal , you have to pack everything and save it to add to the next batch. This is because the shredding machines can be a bit expensive to rent, and you really want to do it!

Over time , all organic mulches need to be replenished . This is because they decompose naturally under the conditions of your garden. Usually you can tell by looking at you, but sometimes it can seem quite normal , but still have problems . If you start to notice a bad plant growth whatsoever, you need to replace your compost. Always keep in mind that during the decomposition process , mulch use the valuable nitrogen in the soil . Otherwise, the plants will be missing an essential nutrient . There are several types of fertilizers on the market that are specifically designed to solve this problem.
