I like to use mushroom compost. Wouldnt use it straight though. Mix with with perlite, vercumlite, peatmoss, and some native soil with a handful of alfalfa.

And I make a compost tea with has epsom salts in it.

that's awesome.... and yea i was'nt gonna use it strait... i was gonna mix it wit perlite/vermiculite and some good organic humus and or some good organic soil... alfalfa pellet's? thought that was for worm beds.. to attract nightcrawlers / earthworms.... but i use a few night crawlers in a grow i've done, and it did good.... thanks for the info bro... oh and can i use wild peatmoss? thats that green shit that grows on the side of trees and dead wood on the ground or even on the ground? would i be better buying some or gettin the real deal out the woods? again thanks people...

You wont really need the vermiculite mushroom compost holds a lot of moisture. Add plenty of perlite for drainage. Certain mushroom composts are some of the best possible organic growing mediums. Just look at redwood natl park. Those giant trees are growing in a ton of mushroom compost. I think theres a video about it on youtube.

Its good stuff i mixed half yard of mushroom compost and half yard of the house blend potting soil and I think 16% perlite

much thank's.. this place around here sells it for like 34.00 a cuft... but can get it online for like 8.00 tops... any brand that is good? im new to this... future horticulture student.. need to learn about all plants.. mights as well start with somethin i love....

Be wary with what mushroom compost you end up choosing. Most of it will be filled with chemicals left over from the shroom grow and i have heard of heavy metal accumulation in mushroom compost too. My point is just to make sure that you find a source from a good organic grower of mushrooms, if they aren't advertising that their compost is clean and all natural then you can most likely bet that it isn't.
