Musty smelling bud?

Alright, so my buds right now smell kinda musty. They are kinda hard. Only time I saw this before was when I bought off a bud and it was spongey wet bud that smelt the same. Any thoughts?

could be because of the way it was cured,stored, might have started molding befor it dryed...could have dryed and got wet again the list goes on and on

Maybe strain related? Some do smell musty.

SO first question is, have you harvested the bud in question yet? If so, this is normal, the smell is the chlorophyl leaving the plant. Don't judge it until it is completely dry. If it is however, still attached, thats not good, if it is in its last weeks. Get the airflow going and possibly get a humidifier. Although realistically it is probably the former and all is well.
