Mutant White Widow

Hi guys n gals
I posted in here to see if anyone has any information on this mutation.

What am i likely to expect and such like.
Is it necessarily a bad thing?

Is this a Hermie trait?

Will I benifit from the extra bud sites or will final yield show a significant decrease.

MUTANT WHITE WIDOW

Since the beginning this Widow has done some strange things lol (its in my journal) , Fusing leaf stems , strange new growth from the area which fused together.
And "now" 1 of the side branches is looking like 2 branches fused together near the middle upwards.

The top is horizontal and the stem is Flat long n oval almost rectangle in appearance.
In places there are 4-8 leaf stems in one area with new growth on all.
I have a couple pictures , in one you will see the front branch which is a lot more bushy than the rest , it's the affected branch in question.

The other pic is the horizontal bud formation.
I haven't taken pics of the stem yet but if necessary just ask

Thanks in advance to anyone with information on this.

Here is a couple pictures of the stem where you will see multiple leaf stalks

More bud sites isn't a bad thing but should I top this girl or ride it out. 20181124_132226.jpg 20181124_132347.jpg

This is Dutch Passion'so white widow, was hoping to get the pheno I grew years ago but that's highly doubtful as it wasn't far off 10yrs now lol.

Polyploidism from what I've read isn't necessarily a bad thing giving these plants can produce higher levels of Thc and such but tbh I really hate the way the bud forms and grows.

The poly "mine included" is nutrient intolerant kindov.

Doesn't like high PPM''s

Tap water is around 200 ppm and the solution in the dwc bucket is 700 ppm so in total it's only being fed 400 ppm.

If I go over 400ppm it can't handle it so small steps all the way for this lil lady.

Tbh m8 topping in flower can still be done , from my experiences it has to be done in the 1st and possibly the 2nd week after flipping to 12/12 , before full flower kicks in.

Cutting back on nitrogen is not what I would recommend either but I'm not saying your wrong.

Cutting back on nitrogen would mean underfeeding as I would need to cut back on Nutes , at this stage it's gonna be impossible as the plant is now wanting higher ppm's.

Until this week the polyploid (White widow) has struggled with nutrient increases , it's been at 400-500ppm for weeks and it's only now since flipping to 12/12 that it's wanted more.

10 days in flower and ppm's are 756 , still really low but she's getting there.

Bad genetics.

I grow WW exclusively and have not had anything like that ever happen. The leaves look a bit too indica dominant as well. Typically, good WW leaves are a tad skinnier than that as it is a 60/40 indica dominant strain.

That looks more like 80/20.

I've grown out fasciated branches before, and although it looks very cool, I was never happy with the bud.

Now I get rid of them during veg when I find them. I cut off the screwed up meristem and as much stem as necessary to get to the closest properly growing nodes. It leaves a big hole because the stem is hollow so I just put a piece of tape over it to keep any nasties outta there. The branches from these fasciated stems seem to continue growing normally I've found once you get rid of the confused part.

Interesting, I will need to look into that before cutting off the top which is the only affected area right now. As it's just in flower it should make it a tad easier and cause less stress perhaps.

I'm just over a week in flower, if I top now do you think it will still be OK?
I'm not fussed if it slows her growth , I'm just worried incase polyploids Hermie easier than normal non mutant plants?

Any info you have m8 is appreciated. Thanx

Looks exactly the same as the widow I grew years ago. Same width of leaves too.

If you top that now, it's likely the offshoots wont have time to develop as big a colas as your other untopped branches. But you'll still probably end up with a better harvest from that branch if you do instead of growing out that fasciated tip.

Then again, if this is your first time seeing this you may want to grow it out anyway. It's only one top anyway, and then you can better judge for yourself what to do when you spot one during veg in the future. And make sure you post a pic if you do! Lol

There's a recent thead in another grow forum where people post their fasciated buds to see who has the biggest, weirdest looking one. With 100s of posts there, we should be more worried about the genetic quality breeders are creating.

Hey Northwood thanks for replying m8.

Today I removed the top , it narrowed that much that there was no hole after I cut away the top inch. I took it down to the next nodes where there is some new growth already started.
It is small growth but underneath there are about a dozen lil branches about to shoot up so it's not all bad lol.

I will take pictures in the morning so you can see where I cut and will continue to post pictures as it flowers.

I know the cola size will be different to the rest but topping should bring some life into the ones below with any luck.

Thanks.

That's weird. Looks like the 4 White Widows I have right now in veg in my 5'x5' tent:

The grow glasses I use still don't do mine any justice lol , my widow is actually nice n green like yours are in pic.

I grew this year's ago and loved it.
How do yours taste? Fruity?
I remember the ones I grew were really sweet and every puff was the same lol just fruity heaven.

That photo was taken only 2 days ago and it's the first time I'm growing this particular pheno (from fem seeds). I'll be lollipopping and then flipping this weekend. So I'll let you know how it tastes in about 9 or 10 weeks! All three of our grows look really similar in leaf shape and plant structure. I know it's supposed to be sativa heavy, but I haven't seen any White Widow that grows anything like a Haze or other sativa dominant.

Those branches below where you topped should grow like crazy now! They may not be big colas, but you'll get many of them at least.

The most fruity tasting run I've done this year was blueberry. Even 2 weeks into flower, it was like snorting flavoured kool aid or something every time I stuck my head in the tent.
