Say amf, thanks for stopping by!

Thanks for your inspiring comments.

I'm using the old standard hempy mix. One part vermiculite and three parts pearlite.

Today I'm placing an order from the hydro store. My PH pin will no longer callabrate, so off with it's head. It has been a good pin. I have had it for a few years. Time to reinvest.

In the last pic you can see the seed bract and the membrane which nourishes the seedling as the germinates.

I had to coax these open and remove them. Sometimes they can get kinda stuck onto the seedling. I always use a few water drops to help loosen them. The bract is usually pretty easy to get off. The membrane can be a bit tricky. I use a needle to gently coax it off the plant. You can see it laying next to the bract.

It's been four days...96 hours since I planted these seeds.

I used to use the paper towel method, I think I will do it this way from now on.

Looking right as rain M8.

I am definitely going with some GDP on the next order, along with a blueberry of some kind( no dutch passion) and some old school NL. My grow buddy is giving me a few SLH seeds soon, so I might throw one in there as well.

Thanx for the update.

Peace and Great Grows

I gave up on the paper towel method yrs ago also, I found all I could do while handling is to screw it up. So now I always plant directly into soil or RR. One thing I do different is to plant the seeds horizontal.

Thanks and Yeah it did...Ha!

About 7 weeks veg for clones. Do you also veg your seeds the same?

South of 40, I B east of the big muddy river and south of I-20.. Summer here has been somewhat mild (Mid 90s if you call it mild) and unusually wet for this time of year.

Portable A/C sounds like a good idea, gonna have to look into gettin one. Is your tin roof vented?, perhaps a ridge vent or wind turbine.

This is my first attempt at growing in over 35 years. Back then we would just throw out some seeds out on an old dirt road, water em real good and hope the took..LOL..Did have a few that produced but you know I don't even know if they were male or female, didn't know all the info we have now..It's great!

I have 3 girls growing-bag seed, one in soil (Odd Ball) and the other 2 are in hempy (Folger and Capt D, yep I name em) - no mix just straight perlite. Really only have room for two, but the one in soil fooled me. It seemed as if it wasn't going to grow much further than the 1st set of real leaves. Then it started producing odd looking fan leaves, one long finger, and 2 very small ones..Then it sorta stopped. So I decided to leave it be and germ 2 more seeds. While waiting on them to pop, I began looking for grow mediums and found Hempy - simple/poor mans hydro..LOL..Saw all the growth they produce and well off to the races..

Originally, I thought I was experiencing heat stress but after further study, I believe my PH was off, in fact I know it was..Bought a cheap pen that didn't automatically account for temp which led me to be off by several points. Found a better PH pen and found my PH was indeed off. Flushed my girls with proper PH for Hempy and Soil and now they are recovering and vegin much better. Just fed em a good dose of GH nutes and they are responding to it nicely even OB.
But to me the hempy is the way to grow.

Was thinking the other day wishing I had seed from back in my teen years - early 70s, like Acapulco Gold, Panama Red, Colombian, and Vietnamese..Man that was some good weed! It was cheap back then - a 4 finger lid for around $20-$25. Of course it had stems, seeds, and the like...LOL

Bro, I B green with envy - Your bud is looking tasty - Would surely like to wind a little up in a skin!

I'm thinking I will pop 2 more seeds mid Sep or 1st week of Oct, try to get a small rotation going....

Grow on brother and Ride Free!

Welcome aboard Shipwreck. Wait did that sound like an oxymoron?
After the clones are moved from the T5 to the CFLs, I veg for another six weeks. Top um a few times, and it gives me a nice bush to flower.

I live south of I 40, and yes it gets really hot here in the summer time, although this summer has been unusually cool.

Heat is the reason I am using the hempy style of growing. I have used bubble buckets and aeroponics. Both worked extremely well, but fighting the res temp got to be more work than it was worth.

To add to the problem, my grow rooms both have metal roofs.

I have a small 110 AC in the veg room and a larger 110 Ac in the flower room. The small AC I run all the time as the lights are on all the time. The larger AC I have set at 75 degrees and, since it has a power saver function, it cycles on and off as the temp goes up.

I hope this helps. I'm proud to be your first post.

Good luck with your grows. Hempy is awesome.

Say Shipwreck, how you doin?

I try to veg for six weeks, but when I grow from seed, they tend to grow into a bush a little faster.

I have always found bag seed to be a little sketchy. It's almost always an outdoor strain, and can easily out grow your room.

I would let the bag seed grow to ten inches and then flip the switch. I still had one grow to over ten feet. I had to super crop that one. All this with just a 400 watt light.

Yes, this has been an awesome summer heat wise. But I still want to move to Colorado. It's much cooler there in more ways than one, if you get my drift...wink, wink, nudge, nudge.

No, my roof is not vented. When it's 110 degrees outside, it can get pretty damn hot in my veg room, as the lights are on all the time. The only thing between me and the sun is a metal skin over plywood and one layer of insulation.

I was at a three day outdoor concert in Arkansas in 1976, and just walking around, I bumped into some guys smoking some Colombian red bud, that was some great smoke.

I got to Little Rock just prior to the concert. The first time I tried to buy a "Lid" the guy said, "that will be fifteen bucks"...I said are you crazy? Pot goes for ten all day long...He said "not here it doesn't". I didn't buy it cause I thought I was getting ripped off.

Before I knew it pot was thirty bucks for a lid. Then it was forty, sixty, and then eighty. I have seen it as high as one twenty, and I'm talking the Mexican swag. Times, they do change.

I think the PH is at the top of the list of things to watch when growing. It is always the first thing to consider when a problem arises. A GOOD PH pin is an absolute must have item.

Have a great day my friends, it's yours to enjoy.

Sweet Grow Indeed M8.

Love the bud porn for sure. If I had that much space to play in, I would probably end up divorced...lol

Awesome Work.

You might see a slight green algae on the outside of the root ball. This is because I used a white bucket and light could get through. This will no longer be possible as all my buckets are now black.

Just a quick reply, got errands to run. Perhaps you should consider venting that roof, let that rising hot air escape...Just a sug..LOL.. Smoked some great Razorback HG back in the 70s, had a friend from there who would visit his kin in TN - he would always bring over something to share.. You Purple is looking good...
It looks like my 3 bag-seed have shown - 2 boys and a girl.
Colorado or Washington State - either will do! Got to roll bro - Keep on Growin!

Nice grow log MG, thanks for the work and info. Just a suggestion but I've been using the Hempy method for a couple of years now and just recently was inspired to add coir to the mix, 60/40 perlite to coir, and the results have been an improvement IMO. The coir holds nutes and H2o better meaning fewer waterings (meaning less nutes so cheaper) plus I'm seeing better root structure and a resistence to heat related problems. I've been so happy that, after the chop, I'm gonna add a few buckets of 80% coco (mixed with chunk coco) and 20% perlite.
Good luck with the perpetual grow, it's an Idea I've wanted to try but was just too buzy (or lazy ;?). Good luck
MG, great grows!

P.S. Here's a few pics of some of my girls (still working out some kinks in the nute ratios due to the differences when adding coco) :-P

Man, some of you sound like your about as old as me, just shy of dirt, lol - graduated high school in 74 and grew my first weed that year

Also I agree, one of the biggest PITA's during harvest is trimming, I fucking hate it! I have this tendency towards OCD it seems - I always start out trying to work quickly, but then near the end of trimming each cola I begin to slow down as I try to get each one perfect looking, and I can't seem to help it:wall: drives me nuts, and so it can take me days to trim 6 plants, lol (plus it kills my back). I'm sometimes tempted to buy one of the automatic trimmers, but the good ones are pretty spendy, hard to justify the expense.

And yeah, what's with the Stranger thing? Makes you sound creepy like an uninvited guest at a wake, lol. I would prefer Newb or Sprout or something ;?D
