I also had to cull out some of the clones and vegging plants. They were just two puny.
Welcome aboard Shipwreck. Wait did that sound like an oxymoron?
After the clones are moved from the T5 to the CFLs, I veg for another six weeks. Top um a few times, and it gives me a nice bush to flower.
I live south of I 40, and yes it gets really hot here in the summer time, although this summer has been unusually cool.
Heat is the reason I am using the hempy style of growing. I have used bubble buckets and aeroponics. Both worked extremely well, but fighting the res temp got to be more work than it was worth.
To add to the problem, my grow rooms both have metal roofs.
I have a small 110 AC in the veg room and a larger 110 Ac in the flower room. The small AC I run all the time as the lights are on all the time. The larger AC I have set at 75 degrees and, since it has a power saver function, it cycles on and off as the temp goes up.
I hope this helps. I'm proud to be your first post.
Good luck with your grows. Hempy is awesome.
Say Shipwreck, how you doin?
I try to veg for six weeks, but when I grow from seed, they tend to grow into a bush a little faster.
I have always found bag seed to be a little sketchy. It's almost always an outdoor strain, and can easily out grow your room.
I would let the bag seed grow to ten inches and then flip the switch. I still had one grow to over ten feet. I had to super crop that one. All this with just a 400 watt light.
Yes, this has been an awesome summer heat wise. But I still want to move to Colorado. It's much cooler there in more ways than one, if you get my drift...wink, wink, nudge, nudge.
No, my roof is not vented. When it's 110 degrees outside, it can get pretty damn hot in my veg room, as the lights are on all the time. The only thing between me and the sun is a metal skin over plywood and one layer of insulation.
I was at a three day outdoor concert in Arkansas in 1976, and just walking around, I bumped into some guys smoking some Colombian red bud, that was some great smoke.
I got to Little Rock just prior to the concert. The first time I tried to buy a "Lid" the guy said, "that will be fifteen bucks"...I said are you crazy? Pot goes for ten all day long...He said "not here it doesn't". I didn't buy it cause I thought I was getting ripped off.
Before I knew it pot was thirty bucks for a lid. Then it was forty, sixty, and then eighty. I have seen it as high as one twenty, and I'm talking the Mexican swag. Times, they do change.
I think the PH is at the top of the list of things to watch when growing. It is always the first thing to consider when a problem arises. A GOOD PH pin is an absolute must have item.
Have a great day my friends, it's yours to enjoy.
Nice grow log MG, thanks for the work and info. Just a suggestion but I've been using the Hempy method for a couple of years now and just recently was inspired to add coir to the mix, 60/40 perlite to coir, and the results have been an improvement IMO. The coir holds nutes and H2o better meaning fewer waterings (meaning less nutes so cheaper) plus I'm seeing better root structure and a resistence to heat related problems. I've been so happy that, after the chop, I'm gonna add a few buckets of 80% coco (mixed with chunk coco) and 20% perlite.
Good luck with the perpetual grow, it's an Idea I've wanted to try but was just too buzy (or lazy ;?). Good luck
MG, great grows!
P.S. Here's a few pics of some of my girls (still working out some kinks in the nute ratios due to the differences when adding coco)

Man, some of you sound like your about as old as me, just shy of dirt, lol - graduated high school in 74 and grew my first weed that year
Also I agree, one of the biggest PITA's during harvest is trimming, I fucking hate it! I have this tendency towards OCD it seems - I always start out trying to work quickly, but then near the end of trimming each cola I begin to slow down as I try to get each one perfect looking, and I can't seem to help it drives me nuts, and so it can take me days to trim 6 plants, lol (plus it kills my back). I'm sometimes tempted to buy one of the automatic trimmers, but the good ones are pretty spendy, hard to justify the expense.
And yeah, what's with the Stranger thing? Makes you sound creepy like an uninvited guest at a wake, lol. I would prefer Newb or Sprout or something ;?D
