my 2017 winter grow

I'm lucky this year and get to start my 2017 winter grow a few weeks early.

using 2 litre hempy pop bottles with perlite/vermiculite and a soil cap.

will use GH Maxi-Grow/Bloom and Cal-Mag...currently using CFL/LED bulbs at 24/0 because it's so friggin cold but will upgrade to a 600 watt HPS once they get a bit older, and then will drop down to 18/6

The seeds were from a friend, which were the odd seed found in an ounce.

So I have no idea what strain they are, but likely either Kush, Blueberry, or OG, as these are the typical strains my buddy purchases from a local grower

I labeled them A-B-C-D with "A" looking like the strongest then B, then C and D as the weakest


this is A....which is not looking good at all, almost ditched it but will hang on awhile


B is looking better


C is even better yet


D is the best of the bunch


so it appears my pre-evaluation on plant performance was basically opposite to reality....go figure

Nice beginning for a new year! I hope you have a great harvest in the end. Fifteen years ago I was skipping along like you. Now we are taking notes of everythiong we do in learning how to make medicine... This is my mother room. There are 5 mothers of Girl Scout Cookies, White Widow, Afgani, Northern Lights, and Cherry Wine (0 THC 15-25 CBD).
The plants in pots, cups, gal. milk container, etc. will move into the grow space in two days when I get done harvesting...

Try out the milk containers... I like having a handle for moving them around...

I terminated plant "A" as it was just not very healthy and was flopping over

Today when mixing up the nutes, I decide to add a touch of Cal-Mag, it's a bit early but I always have a def

So when watering I noticed the first signs of a cal-mag def.....damn, should have started sooner with the Cal-Mag

Gave the gals a full supplement of Cal-Mag....I'm likely pushing the nutes a bit heavy as I see some slight over-nute signs but nothing to worry about

Nice work so far. Good idea growing back ups - Don't fall in love with any plant until you are positive of sex - I fucked myself by falling in love with the looks of a Northern Lights #5 that was a freaking male...

Will you be flowering in the same containers? If so, any real chance of them becoming root bound? I know hempy tends to be roomy for the roots

You're gonna have some full bottles of roots for sure. My 2016 has been a disaster, still don't know for sure what was killing everything. I'm almost positive it was a fungus(only one plant to finish this yr). Anyways performed a bunch of shit, and do have a decent start to a grow going. I'm gonna go out on a limb and predict that all the bag seed will be girls.

yep...same 2 litre pop bottles from start to finish....root bound does not seem to be an issue with hempy.

I know, so often it's the strongest plants turn out to be males...that's why I started the two auto-fems.... just to cover my bases
