My 2mo. old plant growth issue :'(

My boyfriend brought home a small weed plant he found at a golf course at the end of March (approx. 2mo. ago.) I didn't have any pot available so used a CLEAR PLASTIC CONTAINER. It stayed about same size for 1 mo., and I found out it might be because of the clear container letting in too much light into the root. So I re-potted it into a clay pot. It has grown a bit more since then, but it still looks too small. I re-potted it into a 5gal fabric pot today and noticed there was barely any root.
What can I do at this point to make it grow?

Patience, and don't over love her. As small as she is she won't need much for a while. And be easy on the watering.
You might consider some kind of mychorrizae treatment when she is ready to water again, helps protect roots.

Give it as much light as you can. That's what it needs the most of right now.

Do not overwater and that’s easy to do right now.

If that is your growth in 2 months it needs way way more light.

Look...it wants to make more roots...you can see 'em along those nodes below the leaves. Bury that stem up a few inches in your soil and it will establish more along the way. Get lots of light on it too.

Most people are telling you not to over water but they aren't really explaining how not to.

Judging by the picture you shared it looks like you recently watered. Im going to assume you watered thoroughly and got all the soil watered without any dry pockets down in the bottom.

This would mean that the pot probably has a decent amount of weight to it when you pick it up.
As your plant drinks the water the pot will get lighter and lighter.

Im not going to lie though, a plant that size, in a fully saturated 5 gal fabric pot will take quite a while to use up that water.
It looks like you're just on a balcony of sorts. With less than ideal light intensity, your plant will drink a lot slower than "normal".

TLR You probably wont need to water for 1-2 weeks for the first month or two. Pick up the pot every other day or two and start taking mental notes of the weight. When dry, it will literally feel light as a feather when compared to when it was saturated.


Hope you have fun growing! Chances are this plant wont produce much yield but its a great opportunity to learn more and decide if you would want to dive deeper into cultivation.

Water it with some RapidStart or something that aids in root development.

I have been giving this plant food once a week for the past month also, but honestly I'm not sure how much it's helping though. lol

I buried part of the stem as some of you suggested.
I wasn't aware of the importance of sunlight (and also the intensity of it.) I have her out in the patio in my apartment, and since I live by the street, I can't have it exposed to the public. I would say she gets about 5hrs/day of not the most intense sunlight. Should I consider getting a grow light?

Something like this for 1 plant...

If not that one, something that's of similar wattage and full-spectrum lights.

Light light light. No bottle of anything is going to replace light. That Tribus isn't going to do anything. The plant needs light.

Did I say the plant needs light? Let me reiterate that the plant needs light. More light will do more than anything.

Should of left it on the golf course, it was probably someone else's plant. And probably would of grew better than that in the two month. Hopefully if it was some one else's they have others elsewhere.

His friend found 4 while they were playing golf and gave my boyfriend 1 to take home. They just assumed somebody was smoking at the course and through out some seeds and they started growing. Who would imagine to plant weed at a golf course that doesn't belong to them?

Lots of people do outdoor grows in non legal areas. Where I'm assuming you're at with you not being able to have the plant seen by anyone on the street. I can guarantee you it wasn't on the green and was in the scrub hidden. Not well enough clearly. Still they have stolen someone else's grow imo shame on them.
