My 2nd attempt at a decent grow...

Ok so i decided to ave another go after killing off my last plant with far too much heat and then putting it too close to my lamp.

This time ive got a much better temp and a much larger space too so all should hopefully turn out well.

As a few of you will know i have been havin BIG STYLE heat probs so this will prob be a good sign for everyone on here thats been having problems... persevere it will come right eventally and you will save a LOT of money...

Only thing that remains on my next payday is one of them little 4" bathroom fans to put in the roof, cleared it with the landlord too using the baby clothes drying in the closet as an excuse and he was very happy for me to do it.(just hope the smell doesnt go down in next doors house from the loft lol)

So heres a few pics ive amalgamated over the last few days. the last few are the most upto date ive just taken them about 5 mins ago sorry for the quality the ballast was on when i took these so its got those funny lines in.

Ok so i started it on the 20th september so thats 12 days ago i think lol and ive got the small round first leaves and the next set (just one spikey leaf) starting to get bigger with the 3rd set just starting to appear right in the centre so tomoz i will probably have another set of leaves.

Rather than use nutes straight away ive managed to find some really good quality compost with miracle grow impregnated in it for about a 5'er at the local focus store. It says its good for 3 months which i imagine is no where near what i will get out of it with this kind of plant but im sure it will do me good till prob the next pyday after this one! (i hope)

anyway enough rambling heres the pics.

Heres wishing you luck on your grow. I fear you may need it. Since you have miracle grow already IN your soil, you will have no way of knowing (or regulating) when and how much nutrients your plant is getting. Thats the main reason people do not use it. Plants dont need any nutes for the 1st few weeks. Hope fully yours wont get burned by the chemical miracle grow.
Good grow space tho. What kinda light you got up in there?

Hang an OZN-Jr below the vent there about 75-80 bucks and cycle on and off every 10 minutes and eliminate odors very nicely just plugged mines in last night and outside my bloom closet is fresh and clean.

I was looking into getting one a those ozone Jr.s myself.....Untill I found out they are not good for you or your pets. And they are not effective against mold spores like they're supposed to be. For odor control nothin beats carbon. lots good cheap AND effective homemade carbon filters ,do a search. I've seen a gazillion of em in here.

See i thought about that one aswell. i planted the seedling into a peat pot with some really good quality potting soil and then placed that into the large pot once the plant was established.

The light is a 400 watt HPS son-t phillips bulb a brand new bulb aswell so it should cool down a little after its been on a bit therefore giving less heat. Also the vent/fan im going to get from wilko's as there about 7 quid and my parents have a japanese koi carp business so carbon is not an issue because they use it for cleaning the water so ill be using that for the smell once ive been down to my dads.

yeah ive seen the carbon filters made from an old KnN boy racer filter think ill be goin down that route!

P.S. I germinated them on some tissue with water in the window ledge.

struggling really bad to upload pics at the mo my internet is bein a bugger but i have some more pics which i mentioned in my first post that i will upload tomorrow when i can be arsed sort out the connection in my livin room.

Only flaw i can see is that the grow is in your boiler cupboard? dont you get regular gas safety inspections by seaflame, british gas or the like, seeing as your in a rented property?

We have our gas inspection every 6months and they need access to the boiler :eek:

And i wouldnt get a bathroom fan for your extraction, theyre not made to run 24/7 like proper extractor fans, theyre made to run on thermostats, humidistats, light switches or are on timers, so they only run for a fraction of each day, cutting on and off, and will soon fail under 24/7 use (and sods law says it will fail while your not in the house) plus they dont really pull enough air to keep a room lit with a 400w hps and a whopping great boiler cool enough, let alone create the negative pressure needed to keep fresh air rich in Co2 being drawn into the growroom, 40 odd quid for a 4" rvk fan that pulls shitloads of air and will run 24/7, 365 for many years. My 5" rvk hasnt been turned off for over 3years now and it still works like its brand new. ;-)

And did you really buy your seeds from PUKKA seeds? How much were they? :lol:

Nice to hear someone say that lol if you look at my album you will see the one i killed off with far too much heat! i think it was because of the tin foil i had put up too reflect the lamp towards the plants not knowing it will also bounce the heat because it wasnt a problem untill i put it up... oops!

Well after the last meltdown i had ive just done the one to make sure its not too hot in there now and if this one turns out fine im probs gonna do the remaining 4 seeds.

well... we do yes he comes every 6 months however hes just been about a month ago so should have plenty of time for this grow then throw it all back in the loft (its all just hung up and a extension lead into there for power so easily removable) invite him round to do the check and voila he leaves and ive got 6 months for another grow... Thats the reason i wanted a roof fan so it looks inconspicuos if ive got a propper extractor fan u will see it up there on the roof immediately!

Nice one for that matey something i would never of figured out with out buying one and trying... And it could of been too late! lol
Spose i could use the bathroom fan for the inside to make it look ligit then just put the extractor on the loft side so he wont see it. is that feasible???


When i say ive got some pukka seeds i meant some seeds that were bang on! lol not actually from pukka, ive just had a scan and ive got them from NIRVANA... They are Northern Lights and sposed be 80% feminised and out of ten i have 4 left one i killed by cutting the root off when potting it 2 i gave to my bro and my mrs's mum both of which are hatched and female and the 3 i have done here all female and strong... one melted one growing now and the other was planted outside but my cat decided he was hungry and took it too peices lol hence the reason why im getting a greenhouse!

So if anyone was thinkin of gettin seeds from NIRVANA.nl get on it! they are shit hot from what i have experienced!

By the way if your familiar with outdoor growing im in need of some help setting up a fairly inconspicuos greenhouse grow... or if you know anyone that is drop us a private message or drop us a few notes in my other thread cheers for all the help guys!

P.S/ just been and checked and shes getting bigger by tht hour ill wait a few days and probs post some more pics on sunday!

Could be the foil, i take my mylar out of my tent every year at the beggining of summer and i find temps are a bit more manageable, then re-hang it when the weather gets a bit cooler.

Now the time has come to put my sheeting back up and i thought id try this diamond mylar stuff, and to my surprise after hanging it my temps were down by 2`c! I think it spreads the light/heat evenly over the growroom creating a more even managable temp? so theres a lil tip for ya ;-)

;-) always a good idea to put a tester plant in any new room set-up to see how it goes in there before putting your main crop in, even a shabby old houseplant will do as a tester plant.

Your lucky we cant "invite" our gasman round to do the inspection, we get a letter a couple of days before hes due to arrive, and it isnt always exactly 6 months between the visits, so i couldnt plan my grows around him, but my rooms are well away from any services that may need to be checked by inspectors or whatever anyway.

Yea that would work with the household fan visible but the rvk or ruck fan hidden behind it, or instead of buying the household fan you could just get a plastic louvered vent cover to hide the hole, from the inside of the cupboard it would just look like a vent in the ceiling? With the rvk hidden behind it?

I live in a flat mate, well a maisonette, so i dont have a garden, have grown a couple of bagseeds on my balcony but im no outdoor grower, look out for crazy mental im sure hes done quite a few outdoor grows in the uk and can probably advise you better on the subject than i can.

P.S/ just been and checked and shes getting bigger by tht hour ill wait a few days and probs post some more pics on sunday!
