My buds aren't looking so good...

I'm about 4 weeks into flower and my buds started off looking nice and fat, really crystally. In the past week, they've stopped thickening up and are just growing "up"... like spouting little sugar leaves and looking real scraggly. :( Is there a chance they will fatten up in the coming weeks? I'm just afraid it has too many brown hairs to really keep swelling up... it's starting to look like nothing but a blob of leaves!

Nope.. not an autoflower... and yeah.. some of the tips are a bit burnt.. not sure if its nute burn or from touching the lights. :?

^ I hope you're right! But even if it smokes like crap, it was a test run anyways... still want to figure out why it's looking so whispy and leafy though.

Also... I'm getting so confused on the nute situation. My plant is showing necrosis on a few leaves, like dark purple/black spots, which I understand to be a K deficiency. I also had a P deficiency that seems to be gone for the most part. But, clearly I have "the claw" and haven't been giving any nitrogen... but then it also looks to have slight nute burn. WTF!!

Look into how to use beneficial bacteria. Next time it will be well worth it to spend the extra $50 on something that will last you 5 grows at least. You will never have another nutrient deficiency problem again.

What kinda lights r u using? That leafyness can also come from using too much nitrogen in your nutrient mix during flowering causing more vegetative growth and having a poor light intensity or using the wrong spectrum can do that as well. Can u tell me exactly step by step how u mix your nutes and what u use and how you add it and when you measure ph and ppm and temp?

I'm using CFL's. Right now I have 4 55w 2700k bulbs, 2 60w 6500k bulbs, and 2 26w 2700k bulbs (I have 2 more of these in there but I don't think it needs them). There isn't any part of the plant that isn't within 2 inches of the lights. Temps stay around 78-82 with lights on, 70-73 with lights off. For nutes I'm using AN Jungle Juice.. in the first 2 weeks of flowering, I was still using the Micro but when I noticed the N toxicity I stopped and am only using Bloom, which doesn't have any N. I water with a 2 liter bottle, so I'm supposed to add something like 3.9ml per liter which I doubled and got that I'm supposed to use about 1.5tsp, which I just dump in the bottle and shake it up lol. I don't have anything to measure ppm, but I just use pH test strips and so far haven't really had a problem with maintaining ph, but I did add a little vinegar once to raise the ph a bit.

she looks good, very healthy green hue. let her grow. shell gain a lot of weight at towards the very end. harvest at ~10 weeks from pistil, flush starting week 9.

they don't look bad!! I was expecting much worse when reading your title, good attention grabber! Anyhow how is you PH levels?? do you have a EC meter, they are a bit pricey but when used crop after crop its worth it, heck to me if it saves one plant it pays for itself :) your only in week 4, give her some time, is this a Janedoe? (unknown strain).....I would listen to bygon everyone was spot on, are CFLS the way you want to go or just because cost/that's what you have?....like bygon said the spectrum Red/blue plays a large key in bud size, density, weight etc I believe your plants are Craving more light that's why you have seen them slow down so much...also you say not one part of the plant Is less then 2 inchs away...that right there is why your tips are burnt, well hope some this helps I will check back by!! GOOD LUCK, and one love KEEP US POSTED :leaf:

They look OK to me, I would say she is bolting or "foxtailing"

Some strains do this in late flowering naturally, it also happens when the heat is excessive. Not a real problem although they are a pain to trim.

Don't go chasing non-issues trying to "fix" it. Just let her finish. If the bother you that much just cut em off and make hash.

hes more concerned with how leafy they are. this will go away when they grow properly.

the bud will be more leafy if you cut away fan leaves elsewhere. buds gotta start doing 2 jobs then, think bout it. my diesel foxtailed like crazy, and my master kush did it a little

Had to correct it lol

But thanks guys! You're making me feel a lot better... I mean I may be growing some schwag, I have no idea lol... but it was great when I smoked what I got the seed from. The temps have gotten a little higher than usual in the past few days... it's hard to keep it down without blasting my ac. I didn't think that it could be foxtailing, but that makes sense. Checked the pH and it's good, just fed her some nutes and got a new little fan to move more air in the cabinet... Hopefully I'll see some progress in the next week or so, just wanted to make sure they didn't look like this for some specific reason.

And thanks b.real, I didn't even think about that! I had to cut off most of my fan leaves because they were hard to keep from getting burnt... but it's clearly very bushy on top so I didn't think much of it.. But that makes total sense. :)

this.

the buds look good and will swell as they finish, they are just foxtailing. sometimes it is due to strain, sometimes due to heat.

my guess is the latter since temps are getting hotter with summer coming on.

Some strains are beautiful and some are just homely looking , I would say this one is in-between, but it will produce the larfy no matter.

U dont have claw. I always hated buds that fox tailed. I just cut them up and Kief them out.
the foxtail is great. bag appeal is great and usually the smokes strong cause the sativas like to foxtail from living in hot places longer

i had some heavy foxtailing diesel that i pulled..not flushed properly..smoke was a little more harsh than thc bomb which was flushed great. its piney smoke..i guess its a white widow or something, the thc bomb?

this is the foxtailing diesel. great grower because of mexican chemd and strong super skunk genes. got n.l. in there for shits and giggles, makes the plant grow more pretty and compact i guess.

lots of harsh smoke because of improper flush. you can see in the box the two plants, my first two diesel grows ones lighter..better smoother smoke. thc bomb is sooo fucking smooth, 2 days into cure :) pure pine lol.

diesel is something else. after cure you get chemd this citrus fuel smell with a super skunk dank and cheesy. cant "taste" northern lights.

it smells like something else growing man..even better than after cure..baka is gonna love sniffin his ladies haha. its like a super powered fruit smell..not super sweet, overly sweet its crazy..kush is just like a normal sweetness earthy, dank but light and sweet. doesnt smell like a fruit i could name like chemd citrus..
