My crazy bath tub grow idea!!!!

I came across this idea of growing weed in the spare bathroom lol

*The bathroom has an exhaust fan in it which would be perfect
*I'd be able to grow the plants in the tub.
*Easy to drain...all you have to do is pull the drain plug. ;-)
*I'd be able to rig a light above the tub...and maybe put the plants in styrofoam or create something that would keep them afloat and in place so the roots are submerged in the water such as a DWC.
*Tie down some air stones at the bottom of the tub.


Only problem I can see is that I'd have to use a lot more nutes then normally since a bathtub obviously holds a hell of a lot more water then a regular tote.

AND

The light would cause extreme algae growth unless I could properly cover the water with something to block out the light.

AND

Im not sure how I would keep temps down in there. Can't cut holes through the wall in the bathroom...well I could but won't.

It seemed good in theory but the more I think about it the more and more I realize odds are against me :cuss:

Another problem I could see is if a visitor needed to use the bathroom and stumbled on that shit...haha
Well maybe that's just me I don't tell a soul I just use rollitup to satisfy my want to talk about it.

Anyway, I'm no experienced grower (just started my first) but that sounds awesome I could just imagine it. If you ever decide to do it I'd like to see pictures of that set up. It'd be sweet. haha

if you were to get some rigid styrofoam insulation you could cut holes in it for net pots then place it on the lip/edge of the tub that would stop the heat and light. Then if you had some smaller size totes you could fill them with a bit of gravel to sink them that would help displace a bunch of the water so you wernt useing 50-60 gallons of nutes.

Check out my spare bathroom grow, Im going to do a DWC bathtub grow on my next grow, I wont get into the details yet of how I plant to do it though.

turn the shower hknow on my accident and your lights is in the rain...

I see so many possibilities for wrong here...

Deep water wouldn't work well because you would need to change the rez. You could however put the plants above the level of the tub and do a recirculating system.

Not much chance of someone turning on the shower when the tub is full of plants.
