My current efforts: AK-47 and Somango

Hello all,

I have been bouncing around, and thought that I ought to
post a thread to share what I have going on.

My first crop was auto-flower plants, plus two female photo-period
plants. These two were AK-47 from Serious Seeds and Somango
from Soma Seeds.

As the autos finished, I took clones from the to PP plants. These
are making up the crop currently in the tent.

Oh, 5X5 tent with 600W HPs, ducted 6" with an excellent DIY scrubber.
Plus two Kessil 350's to add light.

I have 24 AKs and 6 Somangos, and the two mothers in the tent.

I flipped after only a week of Veg, and with the little SOG I have
going, and the frostiness I think I am already beginning to see, I
think that this might all work out.

OK, a peek in the tent right now:

Here is a three shot look at one of the AKs:
AK1.jpgAK2.jpgAK3.jpg

The Somangos are lanky, but looking to get frosty in time as well:
Somango1.jpgSomango2.jpgSomango3.jpg

The Mothers are in the 4-5' range, and if I can keep the Kessils on
them then they might make some massive buds:

Take care,

JD

Hello all,

Yesterday was the end of week five and it is time for an update.

Here is the whole tent, at five weeks plus one day:

As seen from above, part of the crop not blocked by the light:

The Crop Three Mothers are doing very well:

...and Mycology marches on:

Now for some close ups...

This is a series of photos of mainly one of the AK-47 budsicles:
AK1.1.jpgAK1.2.jpgAK1.3.jpgAK1.4.jpgAK1.5.jpg

I also thought that this one looked really bushy, for all its near-main-stem growth:
AK2.jpg

The Somangos have stayed lankier than the AKs, and I expect their yield to
be less, per plant, but they smell wonderful and have some really crusty buds:
Somango1.1.jpgSomango1.2.jpgSomango1.3.jpgSomango1.4.jpgSomango1.5.jpg

This two-headed Somango might be the best of that lot:
Somango2.1.jpgSomango2.2.jpgSomango2.3.jpg

I wanted to add a series of each mother. The Somango's Kessil is able
to be much better placed for it:

Those are some nice looking plants in there dood and i can only imagine the Smell.
I have a Somango #47 going at the minute and she is in early flowering but she is very branchy. I like how your Somango has stayed tight to the main stem, and the one that split into two, i figure that's always a bonus when it comes to yield and infact i also have a Caramelo which split into 3 almost finished too. Haha, i love growing weed and seeing how they perform.
Can't wait to see your next pics mate, nice healthy plants, good work :weed:

Thanks for dropping by L33t.

I enjoyed checking out your recent BioDiesel Mass grow.

This was one of the breeds that I tried first. I mis-timed my
clone taking for the next crop was was kinda driven from the
tent, so my main cola was not nearly as dense as yours. That
was a very pretty plant.

I am leaving these ladies until they must be taken.

Today, 11 days since their last watering, I watered/fed these plants.

I switched from Big Bud to Overdrive, and began adding molasses.

I will be using this formula* one or two more times before the
flush. This will be determined by the plants.

Take care,

JD

* Botanicaire ProBloom, Cal-Mag, Silica Blast, myco-additive, and Liquid Karma,
together with the bloom additives above.

Here are some Week 6 photos.

I took them with the flash, during the dark phase, and
am including close-ups that should survive resizing.

First the AKs.

AK1.jpg
AK2.jpg
AK3.jpg

It is hard to capture the degree that they
are filling out. They are not all on the very same course,
with some looking like they are going to be >3" across or
more and 18" long where a couple are still just some very
nice nugs that have not even connected up with fill in.

I wanted to capture the frostiness. It went OK.

I noticed that the AK mother had ducked a bud under the HPS
and it is doing very well:

A bro on myco-tek pointed out the tip burn and slight down curl (mainly on the AK)
and suggested that this might be an Mg deficiency.

This does not seem to make sense, as I am adding Botanicaire's Cal-Mag, and have
been since feeding started.

...but then I am still learning the issues of lock out, and such.

A few aspects of the situation:

- I am only one feeding away from flushing and chopping

- I am only using 2 gallon smart pots. There is little doubt but that the roots
are running out of room in those pots.

- This was the first such signs that I have seen, I switched to "Overdrive" from
"Big Bud", and I began the addition of 1.5 Tblspns of molasses per gallon with
this last feeding.

It looks like I will be watering/feeding again today or tomorrow. I expect that
this will be followed by two plain waterings, then the chop.

I am thinking that the end of week 9 might be the chop, but will leave them
until 10 or even 11 if they show signs of needing the time.

Take care,

JD

Hello all,

It has been a week since I updated the thread.

The stretch is long past, and so while the ladies are certainly
larger, there is not a gigantic difference. The budsicles are
just piling up trichs now.

Here is the tent, front-view, at day 51:

The closest Somango to a "budsicle":
Somango-budsicle.jpg:0)

I tried to take a new photo of the crystal crusted area of that budsicle,
and it was so shiny that the white was washed out in the photo. I opened
it in Photoshop and tried to lower the levels to see the structure. It
did not work until the last bit of that parameter's range:

Hello all,

I gave my ladies what will be their last feeding today.

I will give them only water after this.

Wednesday is the end of week 8 from flip, and I expect to water only once more.

....now, if they need to go all the way to week 10, I may water one additional time.

The timeline currently looks like this:
===================================================
1. Jan 30: water (using hot soil (FFOF) so water was enough)
2. Feb 6: Pro-Blend Flower + etc (etc == Liquid K, Cal-Mag, Silica Blast, myco-additive)
<FLIPPED ON 6TH>
3. Feb 18: Pro-Blend Flower + etc + Big Bud
4. Feb 25: Pro-Blend Flower + etc + Big Bud
5. Mar 04: Pro-Blend Flower + etc + Big Bud
6. Mar 15: Pro-Blend Flower + etc + Overdrive + Strapped
7. Mar 22: A Half Feeding of Water Only
8. Apr 01: Pro-Blend Flower + etc + Overdrive + Strapped
9. Apr 10: Water
10. Apr 14: Lights Off
11. Apr 17: Chop
===================================================

Take care,

JD

My ladies hit 8 weeks from the flip today.

I scoped one of the Somangos and took it at very near 100% milky.
I expect that it will be one trippy smoke. :0) I intend to harvest
the six Somangos at a range of end-states.

Somango-FirstTaken.jpg

I also took a nice shot of the tangerine hairs on one of my AK budsicles:

AK-NiceHairColor.jpg

Sorry, but I have no new full-tent photos, but it looks about the
same....just a bit taller but more crusty. ;0)

I recognize that my photos are pretty bad. The Somago shot shows
none of the loveliness. There is one Somango that I am going to
set up a photo shoot for....it is just really, really pretty. (It is also the
closest to a real budsicle, with the buds crowding together, of the Somangos)

I do not enjoy the luxury of being able to move them about, other than
the man cave, but I will manage some good shots.

Take care,

JD

Hello all,

We are a day away from the end of Week 9 from flip and I wanted to post an update.

I just checked a bud leaf from the main cola of the Somango mother, and
for the first time I am seeing amber trichs. So far, while I had watched as
the majority clear trichs had changed to a majority of cloudy trichs, I had
not seen many amber trichs at all. (a small handful through all of my
check so far).

I am 30 minutes past lights on, so I will not be taking anything this moment,
but I think that I will take the main colas on the two mothers tomorrow
morning, before lights on.

All of my tests of the plants in the SOG seem to be suggesting that the
full 10 weeks might be required for the rest of the tent.

I did water with plain water, yesterday, and will only use plain water
for the remainder of this Crop.

Some Photos....

The entire Tent, at the end of day 61:
Week8.5.jpg

I took two shots of a lovely AK-47 budsicle in the back of the tent:
IMG_1144.jpg

The top:
IMG_1145.jpg

Two shots of the Somango mother's cola, with better lighting:
IMG_1152.jpg
IMG_1151.jpg

It is hard to see just how perfect this budsicle is.....it is like 18" of bud!
IMG_1147.jpg

The Somango SOG element that is closest to a budsicle (referred to previously)
is still doing amazing...though the HPS lights kill the image:
IMG_1148.jpg

I will try to weigh my yield, even if small and personal, to help
others judge the effort.

....but I am already nibbling a somango taken last week. Yummy!

Take care,

JD

Hello all,

I scoped the Somangos and it was their time. The took nine weeks from
the flip to 12/12, after only one week of Veg.

Recall that this is six budsicles and their mother plant. The remaining 26 AK-47
budsicles and their mother are finishing in the tent.

I took the three best SOG elements out first, from along the side away
from the mothers, the three amigos:
IMG_1153-Somango-ThreeAmigos.jpg
The one on the left was just spectacular, and is in many photos that follow.

Here is a series of the best Somango:

IMG_1160AwesomeSomango2.jpg
IMG_1161AwesomeSomango3.jpg

The harvest:

I will end this post with two photos of the Somango Mother. It is crazy how just
having the one light developed this plant:

I will post a last few random bits separately.

Take care,

JD
