My fan is louder than my ventilation!

Noob here. Just received all the components for my first grow tent including an AC Infinity ventilation system with additional silencer + acoustic ducting. I was very happy when i first heard all the components together - even more quiet than I could've hoped for. However, my excitement took a plunge when I connected the clip-on fan. That thing is louder than my ventilation. https://www.growtent.eu/product-eng-4063-RAM-150MM-Clip-on-fan.html

Please tell me that there are more silent fans available than the one i got? Otherwise I feel pretty stupid having spent so much money on silencing my ventilation only to find out that the fan is "out-noising" it :)

Moving air makes noise, that's the nature of the beast. A bigger fan spinning more slowly will be quieter.
I have a few 12v pc fans that are louder than my AC extractor as well, and they're pretty quite themselves.

Ah of course. I got a bigger than needed ventilation because of this, dont know why I didnt think that the same logic applied to fans :). Soooo getting a huge fan is the way to go? :)

I haven’t gotten these yet but when I do I’ll probably have 4 running, one in each corner to hit canopy. I have the smaller S4 or 5 I think, and those on high you can’t hear unless you’re trying They spec dB rating on there, all pretty quiet

The 2 personal fans I have, 6”, mad loud. Do not like them

AC T6 on 3 with carbon hooked on it, quiet as a dream

Again, thanks a lot!

Gives me hope! :)

The multifan S4 seems to be the largest in the series. How would you compare yours with the AC T6 regarding noise? You really almost can't hear your S4/5? So even more quiet than the AC T6?

I've got a few S7 fans as well. They're super quiet but don't move that much air. They're only 5V but AC also sells a cheap 6.5V USB adapter to get ~25% more cfm. I use three currently (You can daisy-chain them) for under canopy circulation; they work well.

In a 3x3 tent for me I’d see myself putting 4 of the S7s in there hung off wire or something close to canopy Maybe even slip some under near the soil tops and under side

That's essentially what I do as well. They work fine in that application. They've been working 24/7 for a year or so without incident.
The 6.5v adapter makes a noticeable improvement over a standard 5v usb plug.
I have mine in the corners below the canopy. I use another fan mounted high for above.

Wait, what? ANOTHER fan? Sorry im so confused.

Wouldn't 2-4 S4's with the 6.5v adapter(or S7, but I Guess S4 are even better because they are bigger) be all I need for circulation?

Thanks guys - invaluable to me!

AC infinity makes those small computer type fans in high CFM. The are super quiet and I usually run them at about 50% in my 3x3 and they get everything moving in the breeze.

I’ll find a pic. I have them mounted to my hood with aluminium brackets.

There are some USB fans that are really cheap and quiet, they pull only 2-3 watts and they cost about 5€. They may be weak to actually move the bush, but it does provide a decent ventilation and you can barely hear them. You could buy an extension cable with USB ports and run several of them close to the canopy. Just gotta be careful from humidity, USB ports are not waterproof. Maybe put some duct tape over the port to waterproof it.

Also you can use computer fans which are quiet.

But me personally i would go with a bigger fan that has few adjustable speeds so you can run it on low.

They more spray the air than blow it directly. Theirs no air blowing directly in front of them.
I got 3+ years on them and they are very quiet when turned down a bit. Whitch they still move lots of air. Cranked up the air moving is loud.

im pretty sure one of them could run a air hockey table. 2 would be lots for a 4x4. Maybe even 5x5.CD65A770-5E67-4995-955F-74168082CE81.jpeg

Clip on fans are a PITA. I grow in a loft and attaching them to the frame of the tent causes the vibrations to be amplified. I have found that is you remove the clip, loop a zip tie through the bolt hole and hang them from the zip tie with a pair of ratchet hangers in a V it reduces the vibrations to almost nothing and they are a lot quieter.
