My First CFL Grow

Hey, I'd be glad to give you a bit of advice, but you need to give me a bit more information... I can only tell you so much without it. How tall are you plants at the moment? How big is your set up?
Also, if you plan on using dual spectrums, I'd suggest that you add in some regular CFL's to your set up, adding 6500k for vegetative growth, and 2700k flowering. To my understanding, you want more of a certain spectrum during those two different stages of growth as the plant needs those different spectrums at different times in order to flourish.
The amount of wattage needed/bulb placement relies greatly on how big the plant is, but good rule of thumb for CFL's is, the more light/watts, the better. But with more lights, more heat will be building up in the room (not much since you're using CFL's), so always keep ventilation in mind.
P.S Other growers and myself would probably be able to help you a little more easily if you posted up pics, but then again, if you can't, then just give a little more information and I'll try to help you from there.

Finally after quite a bit of modifications and a fair amount of procrastination, the grow room is finally complete!!!My iTouch(my camera, yeah I know, shitty, deal with it kids
) got stepped on so I am unable to take pictures at the moment, but I will definantly get a picture up either later today or tomorrow of the new setup and the ladies! Bengay seems to be growing at a much more rapid rate than Condom for some odd reason though... But eh, I'm not too worried about it, they both look healthy

hey man it looks like you are startin off just like I did, Little at a time. Do what yu gotta do, Your seedlings are looking like mine just starting to make the second set of true leafs. 1 Hash Bomb regular seed ( It was the first strain that I ever grew and it turned out really, really good and I highly recomend it!, HASH BOMB BOMB SEEDS) and 1 Mind Bender from KC Brains, I just finnished a KC 36 and it is tasty as hell and highly productive. I top my plants and keep the lights as close as possible and use UN-SULPHURED Mollasses during Flower and you will not be dissapointed. Keep it up as soon as Im able to take pics ill show you my setup and bud porn from past harvest. j

Well... Guess this is the end of my first CFL grow/journal..
I went on a business trip to Southern California and left my plants at the care of my sister/dog and I am at the point of grief as of now.
I guess at some point they knocked over one of the lights, getting it to land conveniently on my two ladies, never picking it up for some reason and they ended up getting the shit burnt out of them.
Well, heres some pictures that were taken on the 21st (the day after I left), on the 24th, and what they look like now...

After 1st degree burns:
The burn on them might not look too bad, but it is, the new growth was burnt up to the point where the plant most likely wont grow anymore and one of the leaves on bengay got burnt up until it fell..
Lesson here is, don't let anybody that doesn't know how to garden tend to your ladies while you are gone, not for watering, not for looking at, not for anything. Just don't do it

One thing I'd like to add is that I'm not going to give up after losing my ladies. I am currently germinating more seeds to get a fresh start, and hopefully my ladies won't be harmed this time around. Thanks for all the great comments/advice that those of you contributed to this thread, I hope you all follow the next one that is going to be started once the seeds have been potted!

Yeah, that sucks. It happend to me a couple weeks into flower. That was my first grow, I only had 2 plants. I lost 1 in when my light fell on it when i was away for the weekend. It burnt the stem and fucked the plant. I set it up after that so it would never happen again. i moved to HID, got a solid cooltube and never worry about that again.

After a bit of lost hope and a little encouragement from a couple of growers, I decided to keep the ladies going and see if they bounce back. And they most certainly have! (well, not too sure for Bengay, but eh, she seems to be making a slow but full recovery)
It seems like the burn took quite a toll on both of the girls for a good week or so, but they seem to be back on track now!
Judging by how Condom is growing, she seems to have conveniently topped by the burn, so I'm kind of happy about that. But as for Bengay, she wasn't so lucky but she is still coming back! And on another note, I have gave them their first feeding of nutes on the 31st of January with 1tsp/gallon (didn't want to feed 2 tsp because they were still recovering from the burns and didn't want to risk putting the ladies through even more shock) of Fox Farm's Grow Big.
I have also started a (kind of ghetto, okay more ghetto than not) PC grow as well which I will be posting in a new thread with my newly sprouted lady... Aflac!
I've finished my grow box for Condom and Bengay as well, but am planning to move them when they get a bit bigger as they don't need too much space as of right now, but I have added a fan in the small space for the ladies to grow a stronger stalk.
Now for the pictures:

Much better.I read in a thread that most of the light emitted from CFLs come from the sides of the bulbs, so I've revised my setup.
Can someone give me some insight on whether or not this is better than the way it was? Running 1 6500k and 5000k bulb on each of the splits! (both of the plants being closer to the 6500ks)
FYI, I vegged with 52w of 5000k, and 46w of 2700k, and I liked it

LOL.Oh mother of Black Jesus... 6 hours of light a day?!How'd they survive?!?! lmao. Also, Why'd you flower for so long? May to November so thats 6 months of flowering time... Good God.
And how was the final product? I can't really tell from the pictures
That's what I would say every day when they weren't done yet
The smoke was nice, just not as much as I would have liked.
They didn't start the outside sun until May, and didn't show signs of sex until July 7th I think, but in October here, the days really change, (about like mid-late November there) the weather starts getting cold, and basically from Oct. on, I only had 4 or 5 hours a day of direct sun, and that was with me looking like an idiot running around the yard carrying two 4' tall weed plants chasing the sun between clouds and tree cover.
