I been thinking about trying to take my AG pump plumb out to make room for the roots. Maybe replace it with one of the foot long airstones from Wally World. Wonder how hard it is to remove the pump? You ever tried it? .
Big Wheel
here's what i know. i got a tetra supaquiet 10gph air pump from petco and a 6 inch air stone. hooked it up and ran great except that:
a.) it was a little clumsy getting in and out due to the center post and side supports.
b.)only air bubbles were coming out of 1/4 to 1/2 the stone at best.
i then went back to petco and got 2 - 4inch stones and 4 - inch stones.
some connectors, 4 bank regulator(cheapy) and some hose.
i tried both. for the pump i had bought, two 4 inch stones was still too much. duh. 2 - 4inch stones = 8 inch. pump i bought couldn't handle 1 - 6inch stone.
so one 4iinch stone worked good, but limited placement.
so i opted for the four mini stones on different lengths of hose with the regulator.
in my gallery i have pics. the black thing hanging off the front of my AG with four orange knobs is the air control. think i have pump too. not sure.
AND YES TETRA MAKES BIGGER PUMPS. a 20 gph 40 gph and one bigger maybe 100gph. super quiet pumps. plug and play. oh i got them in the fish department. wally world might have them.
oops, umm, yes you can remove the pump. if you still have your AG instructions it should tell you how to remove, take apart, CLEAN and replace.
i would hang on to it though. you may need it again or could rig it for another setup.
