My first grow....Advice welcomed!!

Ok sorry it took me so long to get this started…… Time has been extremely limited.
I put 5 bag seeds to germinate on 9-8. On 9-11, 2 popped…..I call them “tribute” and “lil lady liberty”. Anyway they have been growing under 3x26w=100w cfl 6400k bulbs. (I know I need more it’s all I could do to talk the wife into so far). I started the girls in peat cubes and when I saw roots I put them into 9” pots with FoxFarm “happy frog” soil on 9-16….. Anyone used it?

It didn’t take me long to try and kill my babies. I read all over the place on here “keep those bulbs close” Well let me tell you, you can get em too close…..especially right after watering when a few droplets of water are on the leaves. All the sudden my lil girls turned yellow and started to look burned on the edges….I have pics for you tell me if you agree with my diagnosis.

Now for the changes I made to try and help my ladies….First I moved the lights back a couple inches. I think they are so short because I never made em stretch for light in the beginning…..Does stretching work the opposite too? Light too far plant stretches…Light too close plant stays short?
Second I added a fan… CFL’s give off a bit more heat than I gave em credit for. I think I also stunted their growth with heat too.
Finally I started the little darlings on a gentle feeding regiment to try to nurse them back in shape. I am using a food given to me from my local hydro store I will post a pic of the bottle for any comments but its numbers are as follows 2, 0.8, 0.02. According to her this is very gentle and has the nitrogen I need to bring the green back…..Seems to have helped. It calls for 1tbs. per 5 gallons or .25ml for 1 liter. I mixed the 1 liter batch then added an additional half liter of spring water to further dilute it.

Tribute has bounced back nicely, the jury is still out on Liberty. As of this morning it looks as if there may be a little new growth starting on her….Lady Liberty is a badass she will make it.

One last question……Is early smell any indication to sex? Potency? Or is it just the plant type. Tribute is really starting to smell already…..So excited I think I will just pull her and smoke her NOW!!!
Yeah Right!!! But we are hoping for something to smoke for Christmas…Is it possible?:weed:

Any help, comments, or posts are welcomed…..I can’t talk to anyone else anywhere else about this so feel free to chat it up friends.

Pics coming today...Stoned and cant find my camera cord right now but I will.

welcome to growing. fun, isn't it? and it is hard to have no one to talk about it.

anyway, the only thing i see with your grow is the nutes. generally better to wait three weeks before feeding but you are using such a dilute formula that it should work.

good luck

Thanks for the reply....I personally agree on the nutes but the hydro lady swears it won't hurt em. The main reason tho is that I took wife to the shop with me and she was giving me crap about asking for advice and then not taking it. But at least this way she is involved a bit. The more involved she gets the better equipment I can buy.....So if the nutes kill em.... They died for the future of grows here in my house.

a practical man - keep the wife happy and involved - doing the same thing myself.

another tip - you will get better responses on this forum if you post in the evening eastern u.s. time. if you post now your thread will get lost and get few responses. come back and bump this thread later and you'll make a lot of useful contacts.

I have learned over many years that if Momma ain't happy - Nobody is happy. Sounds like a good bit of strategy on your part.

BTW another Question!

Any1 here reccomend a tent over another....Babies gotta come into the bedroom with us for security reasons. I live on the second floor which means there are neighbors between me and my babies. Smell concerns me.... My side of the basement is locked but Im worried about smell through the floor or just me going down there every so often to check em kinda looks funny. So anyway they are coming up stairs with us so I need a tent....no closet to spare.

Well I finally got some pics up. These are my ladies....The shorter one is "miss Liberty" I tried to kill her right away seems like she bounced back alright. And the taller is "Tribute" they were both born on 9-11.

They live in a CFL environment in my bedroom closet. I am going 12/12 on 10-22 which will be 6 weeks in.

Right now I am using a 2-.6-.08 food called "floralicious" the lady at the hydro store gave me a sample bottle to use every other watering. They are in Fox Farm "happy frog" or "toad" whaterer it is soil.
How soon before 12/12 should I stop usng this food and switch to another....and what should I switch too?

Kinda funny they came from the same bag of weed but I really think they are two totally different strains....both the look and smell are distinctly different.

Please hitch on and help me along the way..If this goes well the wife will let me spring for a HPS system....I only have 1 shot at this, pray for girls with me!!!

About every other day.... They really droop when I water these look up quite a bit from yesterday. I keep telling myself it is becaust they are so big the newer growth doesnt droop as much. I was thinking of pruning the Big droopy fan leaves to let some light in any thoughts?

NONONONOO!!!! never cut any leaves! at least thats what Ive heard. The only time you should take leaves off is if the just fall off when you give em a light tug. How far are your lights away? are you still using the same ones?
