My first grow is nearing harvest :D. Pictures, and looking for opinions :D!

So, these two gorgeous girls were only grown under 6 CFL Energry saver bulbs. Of course a lot of the buds are popcorn size, but there are also some nice buds as well . Im guessing an ounce to two ounces, but for a first timer and horrible lights, it looks like everything has gone PERFECT .

The first brown hairs appeared a few days ago, so I stopped fertilizing (so you wont taste it in the bud/smoke). Im using normal water now. Im on day 48 of flowering. Im thinking of waiting to harvest until around 30-40% of the hairs are brown. Which Im hoping is anywhere from a week to two weeks. I read that the more hairs that are brown, the more of a body high, the less the more of a head stupid high. True?

The first pictures were taken last week when they were at day 41. And last night i clipped off a small branch so i can test it in a few days. The final picture is what my bud looks like after hanging for under 24 hours, and I just put a fan on it about 6 hours ago. Any idea from today when I can test it out ?? Gah its so stinky and shiny .

I wish I knew the strain :/. The THC on the leaves smells so like lemon skunk, but I guess theres no way of telling what it is?

Opinions and suggestions are greatly appreciated. I am getting a 600W HPS lamp on the 20th, and I cant wait to grow mammoth gorgeous feminized flowers <3. Thanks so much everyone ! Also interested in seeing all of your grows <3.

looks to me like you pulled really early, your sure to have a small yield after it dries. looks like your at week 3 to me... just guessing, i know you said 41 days, but normally the hairs will recede on their own. And the bud will generally look ready.. thats still growing.

The first pictures are a week ago, and the brown hairs that are showing now (a week later) are starting to curl back towards the bud. I havent pulled anything yet, i just clipped a tiny branch. So will the hairs just go back in? Or fall off? Like I said theres three to seven brown hairs on the bigger buds.

i agree looks way to early. if u didnt cut it all, leave the rest.

Bro. From what I can see your plant looks very healthy. You are on like the 3rd week of flower and shouldnt even be thinking about chopping her yet. You have a good while left to go on her. All I am saying is please dont think about chopping your plant at least for another 3 weeks or so. Trust me. STAY HIGH!!

So even though the brown hairs are showing, leave it be? Just wait a few more weeks? What exactly should i be watching for from here? Thanks!

Hairs(pistils) dont matter at all. The brown ones are just dying off and drying out. What you are thinking about is trichromes. Which are all the little crystals on your plant. When they first develop they will be clear in color. As your plant comes closer to harvest your trichs will start to turn cloudy and after that they will start to turn amber. The more clear trichs you have the more of and Uppidy high and the more trichs you let change to amber the more of a couch lock stone you will have. STAY HIGH!!
P.S. You will need a small microscope to check them out. Cant just look at them with the naked eye.

No man. The hairs dont recede back in or any thing like that. You will just start to grow some bud under the hairs instead of just hairs. Not trying to be mean but all the answers are here if you just take the time to look. STAY HIGH!!!

Seriously dude there are a thousand threads on here talking about when to harvest your plant! Use the search bar! You will find that almost all the questions you may have, are already answered online. Also google is your friend.

don't know it all? dude, that's marijuana 101! it amazes me that someone gets to the point where he has the start of some buddage, and has no idea when to cut them. none, nada! lol

Just be patient, your plant is all good. Keep giving nutes because its not done.

Hey Ocho, Everyone is jumping on ya because they want you to do better... Here is what you NEED TO DO,,,, Go out to the hydro store and buy a microscope (about $7-$20 depending on you area) Try to get a scope that is about 40X magnification (im saving you from buying 2 scopes, i had boiught a 100X scope at first, but it is too close and therfore hard to adjust and see what your looking for and even harder to show your partners (if any)... So you get the scope and you look at your bud under it,,, your basically looking for these thrichromes.... they look like mushrooms,,, at first they start by elongating, then they get a mushroom cap on the tip, then they swell and get fatter at the tips (usually you would notice it getting fatter with better lights, thats why everyone doesnt waste there time with cfl's)...
Now once you have your mushroom's established your going to wait a few more weeks,,, your waiting for the color... Dont pull when its clear, (although some people argue) You want to pull when you mushrooms are slightly amber or light light brown... (THEY ARE NOT THE HAIRS, BUT THE TRICHROMES< If you dont know the difference then again GET A MICROSCOPE... lol....
I know what its like on a first harvest,,, lol i remember back in the day i had a plant die on me and my hommies chopped it down and we smoked the whole plant,,, lol.
But truthfully, at 3 weeks, the bud is still growing, your about to see it BLOOM... it takes a minute for the plant hormones to understand to flower big (Nutes Help a lot!)
Anyways, Without a microscope you can still get an idea of when its ready.... 9.5 weeks and its just about gauranteed ready...


Also a lot of people decide to pull the plants once the trichromes (the mushrooms) Start to turn amber, because they believe they will finish ripening while drying.... But thats what your after ,,, Amber Trichromes....

Also to help you understand something.... Dont be pulling your plants early... Because the trichromes are the whole point of Cannabis.... when you break it down that is the reason for the high and all the scientific effects... So dont be cheap with your trichromes.. if they need another 2 weeks, give it to them...

FYI: Trichromes are balls of resin, When you trim you can gather these balls off the scissors and compress it into a ball, that is Hash.... if you dont compress it then it is keif...
So keep your trimmings and make some butter with it and you can make some brownies.. Enjoy
