Im in week 5 of my first grow and ive already lost my first to single fan leaves and my first 2 3-fan leaves the other day( as it was there time to go), but im having a little problem. It seems the next set of leaves up is yellowing also, and are fixing to fall off. is this normal? ive noticed a little yellowing and a small amount of purple throughout the rest of the plant but overall it seems to be doing fine so im thinkin that these are supposed to fall off too? ive included sum pics so u can see the rest of the yellowing and also is it normal for my new leaves at the very top to be curlin under like that? i dont think its a nute def. and ive got plenty of airflow, light, and i water every 48-60 hours about 1-2 cups depending on what it needs. i cant figure out what im doing wrong HELP!!!:wall:

might help if you mentioned what soil you're using, plants look fairly healthy
it could be the start some issue

im using miracle grow potting soil....and have only added nutes once and that was about 3-4 days ago, and the yellowing started be4 then...plus i used like 1/10 strength lol so i doubt its nute burn....is that a good soil tho?

i thought i recognized that look on the plant
i used MG Moisture Control soil for my 1st grow, did something close to what i'm seeing here
MG can produce good grows, but it's really not a good beginner soil
i fear you will see a progressing of the problem

i can only tell you what my experience was, it does look a lot like yours
started with some yellowing in the center of the lower leaves
my best guess was magnesium deficiency(some other growers claim MG potting lacks magnesium)
tried some epsom salts, no help, got worse
eventually panicked and transplanted to some topsoil i dug up from outside, dead plant was result(that wasn't MG's fault)
my suspicion is that MG soil is picky with the PH of water you use, but that's just a guess
don't abandon hope, but be ready to transplant to a new soil if you have to

do u think transplanting would be ok? the thought of uprooting my baby scares me more than the yellow leaves lol....how must i go about it? and any suggestions for a new soil?

Hi,
Now, I am not slamming MG, but I have heard and seen this very similar problem with it. But, I have seen this is two scenario's. The first, with new cuttings, it burns and cause's plants look go under stress. This is bad especially if your clones had some of the larger leaves cut back to slow photosynthesis down during cloning; and than when planted in MG those cut's became crisp and damaged. And the second is during week three onward in flower. The quality of NPK is not quality and P being very hard to intake might be difficult for your ladies to work with in partnership with MG. The idea of MG was for outdoor use. Not indoor. Its a little hot for my liking. I like to introduce a very light feed for my cuttings when transplanted and than a good vitamax feed during it's watering, than to a regular feed (mild) before it gets to a normal veg feed.
How long can you get away with MG not having to add a liquid feed? If I had to put some twentys down I would guess all veg; veg being 21-28days. Hey, but MG seems to work for you so far, maybe just need to supplement with it now. General Hydroponics is fairly cheap and works fine. Has a nice three part or two part programs too.
BTW good job on your grow!
Growone, I agree with yea their, Keep your hope, and I would maybe add some new soil but keep the container size very close to the size you are using now!

don't blame you, transplanting can be done, but it's a shock
even more of a shock if it goes badly, so read up on it first
all i can tell you is that after my 1st grow in MG MC, i had had it with chemical type soils, they're too tricky
i personally went with MG Organic Garden soil for my 2nd grow, and i've had about 10 good grows since then(no hard feeling towards MG the company)
my simple formula is 85% MG organic garden soil, 15% perilte
then 1 tbsp MG Organic Bone meal(6-9-0) and 1 tbsp dolomite per gallon of soil mix
MG garden soil has fungus gnats, so i pasteurize the soil at 180 degrees for an hour
not trying to sell you MG Organic Garden, just that i found organic growing much easier than chemical soils

ditch the mg and get some fox farm ocean forest soil, its great for beginners and has a enough nutrients in the soil to pretty much keep u cool all throughout the veg stage, unless ur one of those nute mafia kinds....

I did hear alot of goood stuff about fox farm ocean forest soil! In Canada we dont get it, and I did always wanted to try it! I would get that over any MG. +Rep

Thanks for the tips guys...but JL i have grown this plant from seed not from clone so i dont know if that would make difference on what you suggested. i doubt i can make it all the way thru veg. with the MG soil if its already giving me problems because im just now in week 5...i figure i got a good month be4 flowering begns. I believe im just going to give it a few more days...maybe pluck the last 2 yellow leaves...and see what happens. If the yellowing continues up to the next set i will be transplanting that is for sure. Also do u guys think i should be adding nutes? like i said ive only added one time 3 days ago and that was at 1/10 strength...hell i felt like there was noway the amount i used could do anything because it was so tiny (like a 1/8 of a teaspoon)

ive heard nothing but good about fox farms too. i would have gotten something like that but i was in a hurry for some soil when i planted this seed because the fucked germinated in like 2 days when i was thinkin id have a couple extra days to get some soil so i hada run to walmart and grab something lol. i hada get it in some dirt quick

Yea, I think you should be adding nuts that your only problem. Your in week five. I use General Hydroponics three part feed but I have my own formula. You can get a two part by them and it would be perfect for you and your MG!! Just remember to knock it back 50% first.
Seed or Clone, dont mater to me, I know seedling carry enough energy for its first three weeks before it really would see a benefit from nuts. Seedlings always take longer so its def a nut issue. If you are relying on MG for your nuts, it will def be a failure. Its one) not readily available, and two the source of nuts are not in plant availability. You need to rely heavily on your beneficial bacteria including fung and crizzens, Epsom salts should help tho!! Its kinda all around or if in doubt sort of thing

hehe. I hear yea. Walmart carries a product called promix, you should try that out. They have small bails for yea and it's sterile. It loves it when you give it nuts too! :) Also it's cheaper than fox farm, its thats a problem.

would u suggest going ahead and adding nutes again since i added so little last time? im fixin to water again now thats why i ask lol
