My first grow with CFL in PC grow box (Nirvana)

Hi Farmers,

I'm Portuguese and I don´t speak very well English but i will post here my journal for you guys can help me for in the future i can help the newbies like me! :P

I seeded:

1 Northern Light and 2 Short Rider all from NIRVANA.

Today i will provide to you a some informations about whats going on.

My PC has this dimensions in centimeters (cm): 40 x 40 x 20

2 FAN: 8 cm diameter

3 CFL's:
1 CFL 23w "cool white"
1 CFL 14w "day light"
1 CFL 21w "warm white"

and MYLAR in the walls.

SOIL: Bio Nova

si lo entiendo pero no 100% haha
Al presente tengo 3 snow white, 2 white widow, 2 blue widow y 2 black widow que los empeze hace 3 semanas.
Northern lights esta supuesto ser un strain muy bueno, no le de muchos fertilizantes hasta que tengan 3-4 semanas de edad porque los puede quemar.
y tambien como tienes espacio limitado alomejor debes tratar una tecnica que se llama LST, mira la pagina FAQ y te dice como hacerlo.

however, try to flat that mylar. The waves will create hot-spots.

Estou preocupado com o facto de elas estarem muito perto da luz e estarem com o vaso muito quente. eu rego-as 2 ou 3 vezes por dia porque quando as vou ver eles tem a terra muito seca. tenho medo de realmete estarem bem e eu estar a afuga-las.

vou por umas imagens da PC grow box e das plantas. adicionei mais terra para elas aguentarem-se em pe? fiz bem?

I am concerned about the fact that they are very close to the light and be with the very hot pot. I water them 2 or 3 times a day because when I see them, they have a very dry soil. I'm afraid of being really good and I was drowning them.

I put some pictures of the PC grow box and plants. added more land for them to hang on. acted properly?

watering 2-3 times a day is overwatering in soil. I grow severly rootbound mothers in plastic cups and I water them once every 3-5 days.
you should check how moist is the BOTTOM of the soil, not the top.

If it does dry out that ultra quick, transplant.

i water them with spray. for all three a use like 500mL from the start. is no problem them dry little bit right? i give them not so much water. its only to wet the top, i think...
i thing they doing well, a friend told me that the plants he had wasn´t so great like my plants. yesterday i didnt water them. but today i will.

TEMPs:
Max: 31ºC (68º F)
Min: 20º C (88º F)

know i only 2 CFL "cool white" because was very hot with the 3.
23w and the other with 18w
right know i dont remember how much lumens i have, but later i will inform.

you need to get an extractor fan maybe and it will make it less hot.
water them properly every 2 days, not with the spray.

100mL of water for all... about 33mL for each... i never see water get out of the bottom but i saw the soil and was very very dry, was a little bit only...

today was the first day i water them properly. put some water until a few drops fell. i squeezed the pot for the excess water out. now i will wait 3 days and do it again. if 3 days are too long i will go for 2 days and after 3 days and again 2 days and again 3 days and so forth... only with experiments i will gain experience, right?

the problem with the TEMP is still a problem.
i have the PC near the window so when the lights are on i open the window and slow the speed fan and the temp goes to 27º C, but i´m not always at home so when the lights turn off the temp. drops to 17º C. but when i arrive at home i put fans in the min speed and close the window and keeps the 17º C.
i cant move the PC because no one knows that i´m growing.

here goes some pics for u all with 10 days!

looks great, what are you gonna do about the smell? those plants are lookin real good, im doin somethin real simillar, check out my grow, im on day 7:bigjoint:

how do i calculate the lumens i have? just sum it up? or what?

LIGHTS
CFL 23W "cool white" 1550 lumens 4000K
CFL 14W "cool white" 750 lumens 4000K
CFL 13W "warm white" 850 lumens (i dont know how much kelvin =S dont say in the light box)

NEVER squeeze the soil. The last thing you want to do is squeeze the soil.
Not only it will compact it making roots a hard time poking through and removing NEEDED water, it will rip off gental roots.

In your setup you should water once every 4-5 days if the soil is rich enough with organic material.

my soil is from Bio Nova. i think it's a very good soil... i dont like quimcs only organic. i will see what happens in the next 2 days.. tks for all your advises.
