my first grow

This is my first grow and i think its going pretty decent its been about 13 days i didn't germinate the seeds. I had two plants growing and before i could transplant one of them it died so i'm left with one and shes looking pretty good to me for my first grow. I'm growing in Scott's Premium Topsoil containing peat moss. I also water one or two times a day depending on how wet the soil is. I am running a fluro lighting system. the pictures are about three days after i put the seeds in. If you have any suggestions on what i could improve that would be awesome and very much appreciated. I'm running on a very low budget so keep that in mind please. the one has a hole in it but its not getting any worse so i don't know how to feel about that yet. Here is a look at my first grow i will add more pictures as i go along.

get those lights a LOT closer to the plants. They are starving for light and stretching. Also, be careful with the watering. Plants that size should only need watering about every 3 days or so. Definately not 1 or 2 times a day.

can anyone tell me how long i should veg it for i was thinking i wanted to make it a smaller plant but i don't know if that will work out or not?

do you know if thoses are female seeds?

i have no idea i got them from some kush that i bought a while back my guy said it was ak47 kush but im not to sure. is there any way i can tell the sex early

ya i agree with the guy that said water less. Especially since it looks like that dirt doesn't drain too well, you gots to let those roots breath. And yes you can tell sex before the plant starts budding but its still a lot of waiting. I dunno if you know about cloning, but basically you cut off a side branch and make a new plant out of it. The "clone" can be put under 12/12 lights when its a couple weeks old and you can tell the sex of your plant. But obviously your plant needs to be a lot bigger before doing that.

I'l have to try that but i was gonna plant another one that i have witch is some pineapple express and i was thinking would it work if i did 12/12 for the lights right away? would the plant grow or what will happen?

yea that is some weird dirt u got there if your not hiding that you growing from anyone you should go to lowes and get some good growing equipment

i would do this but like i said i have a very low budget and i have no money to do that really it all goes to bills yay!

the dirt that i have now is just some dirt that i got a while back from my parents house its scott's premium with peatmoss ive asked a few of my friends that grow and they said that its really good dirt so i just used that.

That does look like some good rich soil and the peatmoss is good for water retention but good dirt needs to be able to hold water AND allow the roots to get oxygen at the same time. If you have a good amount of the scott's left you really should go buy some perlite and mix it up with the soil. Its that white pumice-like shit, it will let your roots breath and make your soil go further. I know your broke but its cheap and your plants won't do well without it.

i hope everything turns out good for u! im subd. i cant wait too see these ladies grow up! a little sugestion though (it helped me). try not to over think this. i wouldnt worrie about it being a male or a female. just try to grow a nice green plant. even if it turns out to be a male atleast you will no that u can grow a good plant. +rep to u my friend!!!

thanks i will keep that in mind. i think its goin pretty decent for my first grow i could use some improvement tho...
