My First Hydro Grow, Pineapple Express, Blueberry, NL + Big Bud

Hello everyone, this is my first hydro grow. Well, to be honest this is my first grow period. My buddy had some seeds left over from a grow he did a year back, so he gave them to me and said, "Have Fun".

Honestly it was a rough start. He gave me a Super Silver Haze seed, and a Sour Diesel Auto, and a random seed that we finally decided was blueberry (His buddy was smoking Blueberry on a regular).

Then a few weeks after we started the first seeds, we decided to buy some Pineapple Express Auto Seeds, which came with a free NL + Big Bud seed (Attitude Seedbank). To say the least i lost 2 of the pineapples, have one thats struggling, and the last two are kicking ass. My Blueberry is a beast of a plant cause I vegged it for about 7 weeks. We first thought it was another Sour Diesel Auto but we were wrong. Oh, i must not forget i did loose the Super Silver Haze, I fed it way to much at the beginning.

nice dwc is the best... super easy.

that blueberry looks great, I am currently looking for a good blueberry also, ill follow this and see how it goes. It has those double-serrated leaves, very typical, good id. take some cuttings of that girl (also really easy with dwc, no cloning products necessary)

looks like you're set but ask away if you want advice and ill do my best.

Here are some picture updates of my ladies, everything seems to be going well. However, my Pineapple in Flower is still struggling with rusty colored spots, pH is good, PPM is around 750.

are you only using cfls?

Yeah, currently i have 3 125w 6400k in my veg box, and 2 105w 5000k, 2 85w 2700k, 5 105w 2700k, and an LED for the top of my Blueberry in my flower closet. Seems to be working out nicely.

Nice to see someone test the Cfl's. personally perfer the HID's but whatever works for ya man! keep it up. + rep

So i went a little crazy and bought a Carbon Filter and Inline Fan, seems to be working nicely, the smell is now gone.

I wanna go HID and HPS, but i'm worried of the heat and the cost to run those monsters. I was thinking about putting 2 HPS 400w in my flower closet, but I'm pretty sure the heat would get out of control. What's your suggestion Bigz?

Here are some progress shots. Just changed the water, sprayed w/ neem oil, and changed res water. Daily i'm blown away, i can't believe this is actually happening.

wow she is a beauty ,,I have 13 blueberry seeds and after seeing yours I think I will start a all bluederry grow very soon

2 400's will get way to hot unless they are aircooled. I started my grow in a 4x4x2 micro cab with 2 150w hps sun systems and i couldnt leave the door on without the temp getting over 90.

Then i think for my setup i will stick with CFL's they seem to be working pretty good. The plants seem to respond well, and my temps stay around 75-79 during lights on, and 66-70 during lights off. I know CFL's don't have the light penetration like HPS and HID lights, so i hope my yield will be ok. I guess we'll see.

If you really want some hps. the lights i use are 150w and they dont put out too much heat at all. i have an A/c with the theromostat set to 75 and a single ocilating fan and my temps never go over 78

Do you need a ballast with 150W HID and HPS lights? Luckily for me my apartment put a air condition vent in my closet. My closet size is 5x5x8, how many 150's would you use?

the lights i use are the 150w sunsystem compact system. its a ballast reflector bulb in one unit. ready to plug in when you get it. MSRP 89.99 sun light supply.

depends on how many plants and how big. 2ft by 2ft is the recommended light distribution. I have 3 plants under each light. I vegged for too long and is a multisite res grow so its crowded with tops. check out my sig if interested. I vegged them with 2 t5's and 2 t8s then hps to flower.

I know i can fit at least 6 plants nicely in my closet, so i think i'm gonna try 2 of those Sun System Compacts. This should be fun, once they arrive i will update with pics.

ya my room is still a workin progress. i have passive venting. ac and single fan. thats all i use to cool my room.
