My first indoor grow

I am new to indoor cultivation. So far, I am really enjoying the experience of learning and testing new ideas. I built this during the pandemic lock-down, so I had to make use of what I had on hand and I have many parts still missing (humidifier, thermostat, ph testing kit...), but so far it looks to be doing the job.

I used some old cpu fans for fresh air inlet and outlet vents modified to run on usb-outlet adapters. I made an air filter with some odor absorbing kitty litter and stockings at the mouth of the outlet vent. The box was lined with bubble wrap and foil, with the seams spliced with foil tape. The top is an old diy photography softbox made of triplex cardboard, which I also lined with aluminium foil and foil tape. The light bulb is an 85W daylight CFL. I'm using a blanket to create a relatively decent air/light seal in between the box and light reflector.

I started with germinating some seeds over a period of 3 weeks, only one made it to a healthy seedling which is now inside the grow 'tent'. It is getting colder here, winter approaching, so progress would have been limited outside. I also started germinating new seeds in wet/moist kitchen towels in between two ceramic saucers, two of which have been upgraded to soil in eggshells (all inside the 'tent' ). All of the seeds came from my last (and now depleted) supply of what I believe to be 'Swazi-Gold', a sativa landrace from southern Africa.

At first, I think my humidity was really low, with the soil drying out completely, very quickly (within a day) , so I added some water to the large drip tray at the bottom with a towel as a temporary humidity control strategy. The lights are currently on an 18-6 timing schedule.

The seedling suffered a small bit of root damaged when a transplanted it to a larger pot, but seems to be really happy. Not sure of the leaves are a bit too bright green (perhaps yellowing?) or perfect?

Any suggestions?

I admire you creativity...only prob i foresee is gettin the plant to stay short enuff....stretch is a real thing and unpredictable af...n you don't allow much width for side training to make her grow out instead of up....def wanna see this play out tho its a cool idea

I appreciate the input 'MY OWN DANK'. Yeah, this closet grow space is a bit tight, perhaps better for just one plant, but I'll be squeezing in the two for now. The seeds aren't guaranteed feminized seeds, so I might need to dispose of one, if it turns out to be a male, hopefully not both!
My plan is to do some topping or fimming (undecided, any advice?) after the fifth developed node and do some really light LST, as much as my space allows for. Please keep an eye on my updates here at my journal thread.

I top at the 3rd developed node...gives you a good start to train n work with...n yeah some branch bending n manipulation n defoliation will all help u achieve better results...just at least plan on the plant doubling in height once she starts flowering and if shes a sativa even more20200521_132647.jpg

Fantastic. At what point to you top, how long do you wait and at what age of the plant?

Heres a current journal where i topped n you can see how she progressed after

If ur wantin to make a bush I start on em young...not sure of exact age but 3rd node age will vary from plant to plant...then after she splits if you wanna top again i usually wait til those new branches get a couple nodes then hit em again...n so on n so forth
