I made my own light hod also. I took on of those bathroom light fixtures (chrome), added the Y splitters, and screwed in aluminum "wings". There is now 8 26w bulbs (and 2 65 watt flood lights for 3 plants). It has to be the brightest thing that Ive ever looked at. I stared at it for longer than I guess I was supposed to (little baked at the time..lol), I saw these 8 black dots for a few hours..HAHA! I made it all for like $25... I love home made shit...!
if you ask me 1 is enough for veg. I;ve 6 plants in veg under 1 18watt flo. And all doing fine.
Flowering is were you want lights.

i would say that it would be fine for under 3-4 plants. any more than that and i would get more lights...... you can NEVER have enuf lights.....

I will shortly. Built in a dresser that matches the rest of my furniture. They are 2 Flourex 65 watt enclosed fixtures(4550 lumens, 6500k). They draw 800mA or .8 of an amp. They will run on 120v. I can hook up 15 of these to on wall socket without blowing a fuse. I built the bathroom fixture so when the plants get bigger I can separate the sockets them selves and place them around the plants for side lighting. Here is the light..

those lights are cool, they also come in 100w for not that much more. also get enuf to go on top and on the sides and you will be set....

So it looks like i will be harvesting in two weeks and i have already started flushing with only water since 5/3. any ways i took some pictures for you guys!!!
