My First LST grow (600 watt HPS) - advice welcomed

Thanks to all who helped me with my setup in the grow room forum. My closet is only 5' high, so I wanted to try LST since the results I have seen here are insane.

600 watt HPS from start to finish.
420 CFM exhaust with cheap 8" inline fan to bring in fresh air from a nearby window. Soil grown - basic organic soil with tons of perlite and coco fiber.
Water with miracle grow 1/2 strength every other watering.
3 gallon buckets.

These 1st pics are the plants at about 3-4 weeks and before I started the LST. I had some problems with heat early on so growth was stunted, but everything is doing great now. I have 6 heavy duty fruity grown from seed. The seeds are not feminized, so I may get a male or two. I added 3 clones which are in the next set of pics. I also include one pic of the grow area to give an idea of what I am working with.View attachment 1858505

week 5-6. added 2 Purple Arrow and 1 OG Kush obtained from a local dispensary. Still no LST, but I started right after these picvs were taken

week 6-7 - I am in week 7 currently.

I LST'd the Heavy Duty Fruity first and they immediately started going crazy with new shoots. A few days later I LST'd the clones which were kind of wimpy and they also took off. The OG Kush is the slowest growing of them all but it will come along. In the future, I would get the clones when the seed-plants were much smaller so they would all fill-out together. YOu can really see the difference between the HDF (Seed) and the Purple arrow (clone) in "7c arial.jpg"

It took awhile to get my LST method down, but now I have a good system. I use the binder clips as someone else here recommeded and I use strings with a sort of slip knot that I loop around the stem then back to the clip. This alows me to move the string on the stem when necessary. my little kiddy pool is filling up quickly and the height on the plants is only about 3-4"

I have not topped anything but one of the smaller HDF that I almost pulled out. I decided to leave it in and just top it to see what happens. I have not LST'd that one.

You thought about scoging? My grow room is only about 51/2-6ft high as well

Thanks for the replies. I scrogged years ago but I found it a terrible PITA. It was fruitful, but too time consuming. I am really liking with the LST is doing though and it isn't nearly the effort.

How do you like the purple arrow strain so far? I just started my first hydro grow with four purple arrows from a local dispensary as well, I am only in my first week.

I have never smoked it, but after LST'ing, it took off like crazy and I am happy with how vigorous the growth is. I will let you know how the smoke is after I am done with the grow. probably around Christmas.
