Hey rollitup,
just wanted to start this grow journal as I have never grown organic cannabis . I wanted to do this to have some help and comments along the way and hopefully I can avoid mistakes if enough people see the grow and help along!
Never done this and don’t want to mess anything up as I go or add the wrong amendment at the wrong time or what not.
please comment if you want, positive comments only please, I’m here to learn and have fun with my grow. Yes I do somewhat know what I’m doing in regards togrowing cannabis. I am not afraid to admit that I have had more failed crops than successful so I have learned a ton along the last 6 years of growing. I’ve done quite a lot of researchsurrounding organic growing and want to get down and dirty , if you may, with the grow now. I’ve read enough and now need to be hands on to learn more as I’mbetter with hands on than learning at a computer or from A book/ in class.
so here we go.here is a list of what i will be using, I won’t be changing anything I’m using up as the research I’ve done has confirmed the items I’m using are good for what I want. I’m not going crazy overboard with mixing and trying to keep it super simple with top dressing and minimal teas if I can help it. I would prefer a water only grow but I know that doesn’t give it the best chance for It’s growth cycle and would like to feed the soil nutrients as it grows the entire time from seed to harvest.
here’s what I am using
Container for growing
Using 4 living soil beds by grassroots
2’x4’ beds with trellis extensions
These beds hold around 90 gallons of soil each
This is in each bed
- stepwell super soil -3cu foot bale
(Canadian sphagnum peat moss, mycorrhizae, bone meal, blood meal, perlite, kelp meal, fish bone meal, wollastonite, worm castings, basalt rock dust, gypsum dust, alfalfa meal, humic acid, dolomite lime, sulphates of potash & yucca. All ingredients are organic certified)
perlite - 1.5 cu feet
vermiculite -1.5cu feet
Worm castings - 1.5 cu feet
Canna coco - 1.5cu feet
So that makes about 70 gallons of everything mixed together and now I have 20 gallons or so of room for mulch layer
Organic steamed straw as mulch layer
Does anyone know if that’s enough room or maybe too much room to leave? I know you need a bit of room for mulch layer but maybe I should add a bit more of something? Can someone take a look and see if I can do ratios better maybe or just add more stepwell soil to fill to 80 gallons then leave 10 gallon room for mulch and top dressing?
the following is what I have bought for either foliar feeds or top dressing
20kg bag of all purpose4-4-4 Gaia Green organic
20kg bag of power bloom 2-8-4 Gaia Green organic
Soluble seaweed extract 1-1-17 Gaia Green organic
Alfalfa Meal 3-0-3 Gaia Green organic
GP fish sh*t - organic soil conditioner
Aloe Vera powdered by MiNature organic
water is filtered for Chlorine, Chloramine, and sediment, nothing else as my water is very clean where I live and low p
So that’s what I have got so far, any questions I would be happy to answer and any help or comments are greatly appreciated (unless negative lol)
grown under spider farmer SE7000 lights
1 light in veg room 5.5’ x 4.5’ (usually dialed down for half veg cycle then max output a week or so before flip)
1 light in flower room 6’ x5’ (always stays at 100% output)
I can get into temps and light hanging height and all that if someone wants to know but I have dialed those in years ago to be perfect conditions for growing so that part of this grow has been set and ready to rock!
i hope to get some help along the way from my organic friends on here, and yes I will be posting lots of pictures as I hate grows without pictures lol
The only picture I have for today are a few of the living soil beds being setup in my home.
