Hey all, been following these forums for years and with my states recent legalization I'm ready to start my own personal grow (for myself and friends/family).
I've helped out with some friends grows but nothing outside of what I already do at work.
Which is very minimal such as cloning, transplanting, premixed foliar spray and pesticides, our feedings are all automated, full harvest process. Outside of that I'm technically a newbie as I have research done but never gone through the whole process myself.
My setup is a 5x10 tent split in half in my garage, 5x5 for flower 5x5 for veg and clones.
The flower room has an air cooled 1000w HPS hooked to a 6 inch fan that runs at full speed and pulls in cold air, the HPS will only run at night to keep Temps cool in summer and warmer in winter. (Id like to minimize the use of heaters and AC, even though I have a heater running right now as the flower tent is inactive) it has a cloudline T6 for temp control/exhaust and a couple fans for air circulation.
Veg room is a mars hydro tsw2000 (I'm only really vegging in 16sqft) and CFL hood for clones that I'm not hooking up till the HPS is running for extra warmth. The flower room vents the T6 into the veg room for added heat/ airflow, a cheapo inline fan with a filter just for some added air circulation and smell elimination and, there's a little clip on fan that sits at canopy level.
In the winter I may switch this up a bit and pull out the fan venting the HPS and hook the carbon filter and T6 to the HPS to vent into the veg room for added heat if Temps start to drop.
I'm using just straight coco as it's what I'm used to at work and see no benefit really to adding perlite, if I have problems I'll adjust when transplanting to flower.
I personally am a fan of General hydroponics flora line, with added supplements (silica, calmag, floralicious +, and florablend) recharge for bennies ofc (and my friend has great results using it for transplanting.)
I think I've devised a good feeding schedule for it that I'll share as a picture with my wonderfully sloppy handwriting.
I'll be using the floralicous as a foliar spray in veg and mixing into the solution for flower.
Neem oil and mint soap for pest control in veg I'd rather not spray anything in flower if I don't have to.
I'll be transplanting from rapid rooters in a covered tray to some dollar store half gallon pots (and solo cups for a little experiment/ I want to take a whack at the solo cup challenge)
Then into 3 gallon pots either at flower or a couple weeks before depending on strain and size.
As for right now I'm just running some bag seed to dial everything in for the first grow/ get some solid clones, maybe play around with breeding the random strains. (I'll just use the seedy bud to make concentrates, and try to pollinate towards the end of flower)
Yields not a big factor for me as this is all just for experimentation at the moment but I wouldn't mind pushing for a pound.
I know it's asked to not comment on others grow journals but I would appreciate any feedback with this grow as I would like to learn to be a better grower for myself and my career.
I also added a photo of my first sprouts because I'm so proud of them.
Happy to finally contribute to the community.
