i usually like to do 18/6. 24/0 wastes electricity IMO, and the plants dont sleep. i think i remember someone doing a test on this in a thread and 20/4 came out the best. i think....

the plant releases hormones during the night cycle. when these hormones are allowed to build up enough(when darkness is more than like 11 hours), flowering is initiated. not having a night time will prevent those hormones from being released. im not sure if those hormones do other jobs though. i havent seen 24/0 hurt a plant, but maybe it affects hormones in a way that growth slows, compared to 18/6

I would say top it and train it, and if its long enough u can use the top for another clone:lol:.. I had the same problem with one of my plants... I said fuck it and toped it!!!

ya 18 6 will keep the heat down too maybe..also give em time to cool off and rest. its just running all day now cuz i have no timer. once the timer is here then 18/6.
ya there is a hormone the plant makes that induces flowering but it also inhibits it if light hits the plant for 2 minutes or more. it takes about 2 minutes my book says for the hormones to stop flowering takes that lil time. so that is what happens when light leaks occur it confuses the plant i guess and stresses it cuz it stops flowering once it sees light. over and over again will cause bad things. like hermies. i like to read so much about technical and science of cannabis. i have books and books on it all on my kindle. and its always with me too.
 
Looks like were learnen lots here! Just got home from the dentist. Glad thats over. I did not have time to go to the bank but will go tomorrow. I will call ya up andrew time for a timer and a fan! Get these amps warmed up! haha Rock and Roll time! I am goin to flush the soil in the pots i had my G 13 in try to get rid of some of the salts is that a good idea?
 
Timer cost a lot less than the electricity bill, better get on it or you'll pay for that timer 2 times by the end of the month to Edison.

Yessir ... timer is like 5 bucks :) 18/6.. lights off from 1 till 7 should avoid the hottest part of the day .. would work well


Bongs I wouldnt top those girls.. little too big to top for my preference .... your going outdoor so height isnt a huge concern ... When I top .. I like to do it young.. look at one of the hindus I topped.. if you do it real young you get 2-4 main stocks .. and good structure to hold weight..
 
Yea i thought andrew had one. Or cant he just turn it off for 4 hours while hes home and then turn it back on? I can get the timer tomorrow and your money tomorrow to joshkins. Goin to be chillen or driving around getting stuff or kicken it with the girl. Her son gets out at 2 though and she kinda goes off stays with the kid. So just hit me up joshkins you know what to do lol

Nice coment!! Holding weight is most important!! I am really hoping these other clones here that are goin into bud are much nicer and denser. My G 13 is just so airy but so sticky.
 
ya i turned it off last night before i went to sleep and turned it back on when i woke. so it was about 7 hours off. not bad. and yah i wont top i was just asking on here before i cut. i wont cut now.
also another branch broke from the sour g so i cut the whole thing last night and trimmed it up. kinda lazy cuz my back was hurting. the first nugs are the best i trimmed so those are goin to be dried and givin to rob. then the rest is gona be chopped with scissors and make hash.

have a decent amount of material.
there was an area inside a bud that looked dead. so maybe its good i cut it before it got worse. the other outdoor plant couldnt be better compared to this one hah. another month on her.
 
harvest pics from the shitty s g nugs look amazing tho but joseph says this strain is shit. so it will be hash in a few days hopefully :)

also check the magnified pic out. under 30x not bad. but not great either.

you guys should have your night period during the daytime since you day temps are way hot. theres no way you could cool that thing with 100+ degrees outside
 
oh ya i am planning on doing the day cycle at night like tyler suggested. at night its much cooler and it zips up nice so hardly any light comes out just thru the bottom zipper but that i just a pin prick size.

and night will start in like 12 noon then off til 6 then on til the next day. is the extractor going to be on all the time? or only when the light is on? i know some run it all the time but wouldnt the small fan that moves be enough for the night? or is that even not necessary?

im goin to start a new post in the indoor section that is dedicated only to my tent here since this thread is all about out door lol. but ill post here 2. i just want a broader audience for more opinions. and so i can flood it with pics lol
 
cool bongs, you cut one down ! :clap: :-o hey, when I was running 18/6 I used to like to start at 6 pm and go off at 10am before it gets hot. 12/12 is 6pm to 6am.:leaf: just a suggestion.

I have a Hermie in the GR. We cut down the landrace the other day, and were putting it in the jar today and found pre mature seeds in the lower scruff. Went and examined the rest of the diesels and sure enough it's seeded. It doesn't look to seeded but I haven't looked that close yet. The big buds on the landrace have no seed and look really nice. I smell death coming to the rest.I'm not sure which strain hermied but one of the landraces did earlier and I caught it in time but didn't watch to see if this one was the culprit when the boy was trimming .I'll be looking at the diesels closely.Could be because of my Malnutrion issues earlier to. Kinda of bummed but this grow was going bad quite some time ago and I'm anxious to start over. :mrgreen:

since its going to be warm outside when the light turns off, it may take a while to cool down the light/tent. it may not even get under like 80

i think the sour grapes might have done that too. i found a few calyxes that were so hard.also found what looked like male parts on just one bud though, the super cropped one lol. ill see when its dry though if it is a seed.

i wonder if we can even do a 400 or 600 watt hps. might need the portable ac inside the tent and one in my room. just more power consumption.
