My first Shaggy Crop

Well, it isn't much and I was so excited that I didn't take a picture before I picked but this is my first crop of Shaggy Manes.


Now all I need is some Irish butter, salt and pepper and a frying pan!

They look nice man. Don't those need to be eaten in under 24 hours?

they do indeed, which was the point in attempting to domesticate them - they are autodigesting and turn to a black slime in 24 to 36 hours.

So I'm assuming you actually enjoy the taste of fungi?? I envy you for that! It is one of the most horrid flavors in the world... unless the flavor is completely covered up. But, when eating magic mushrooms (the only kind I eat)... I man up and chew them up properly, and plain.

That is a nice little shaggy harvest canndo. you are just great to have around these forums for anything to do with mushrooms.

So how were they?

I thought different mushrooms have way different tastes? Never tried more than a handful of mushroom species and I never really looked into it so I'm not sure. Magic mushrooms don't even taste that bad to me anymore. I remember my first time eating them and I was gagging after eating a couple stems and caps. I can down them and keep them down now easily.

Never tried growing edible mushrooms, thats really cool Canndo. Props, but you've always had my props.
