my first time with the aeroflo2 36, finally ready to go

I'm simply experimenting with the Lucas, that's really all I've used on each grow. They've really come out nice but on the next one I can go strictly by the formula and see what happens. There's SO much freaking information, I'm just trying to wade through it and pick out what seems to work for others. Opinions in both directions, who do you believe so why not just try it myself, plus, it's pretty freaking cool to be able to experiment!

Probably varies from 5.8 to 6.3, honestly, all i do is pH down or up it. Once it gets down to 6.0, or up to 6.0, it stays pretty steady for 3 or 4 days, then it'll lower a point, or increase a point, or two. It always seems to stay in the sweet spot and the plants have never really shown anything but rapid growth and healthy tones so i figure a small variance in either direction is fine, or at least appears fine. I'm only on my 4th grow, one strain, Bianca for 3 grows and this one is White Widow so I know NAUGHT about growing, I can only impart my limited experience.

Oh, my ppm's right now are 1400 and they came down this week from 1700, during flowering I'll boost em' to 2200 for the 3-4 weeks of flowering. then down to 1500 the last couple weeks. Since I lack knowledge, it's been really haphazard with everything I've learned about growing.But here's the thing, a freaking Aeroflo is SO forgiving, it's been very easy actually but I also put a lot ot time into my little room "say hello to my little room">in bad Pacino accent!
I went by all the current wisdom about ventilation, humidity and temperature and just tried to design the best I could for what I've got (I built a small room in my attic). Then, you have the aeroflo or just lazy stream hydro, and it just freaking seems to kill it at growing! I'm not sure how easy Bianca is to grow, but it just went crazy in the aeroflo. The current widder women are looking great, sometimes almost an inch a day of growth, which seems pretty good, or maybe it's not, I haven't googled that yet......:)

Oh, after 24 years of abstinance (bad drug addiction and alcoholism in my 20's, got "clean and sober"), at 4:20 today, (totally by accident, I DID NOT plan that time), I decided to imbibe, specifically the second grow of Bianca, which was my best to date, it's about 2 years old and has been sitting in my dresser drawer for the last 2 years, taunting me, so i took 2 hits off a dugout, and my mind has been blown for the last 2 hrs and the high is INCREDIBLE!

Your freaking plants look great dude!

I mean how much is much then? Like a point or 2. In how long of a period of time. I have risin .2 in like five days i guess. Seems to have stopped at 6.3. Which i leave it in order to avoid adding ph down. When i get to 6..5 i will drop it a cap at a timo to 6.0 then do again. Maybe my nutrient is to strong, no burning but 1900 seems like a lot.

Holy crap, i'm so sorry, I didn't mean to dominate the thread.

Your plants look awesome, now I see what lollipopping is, it's probably too late for mine, or maybe not, I have no clue.

i agree about the aeroflo2 being forgiving. i mean i used to use an 8 week feeding chart, which i now believe is not nesassary, been using the bottle this time and there are 2 flower ( early flower and late flower ripen) stages... since im only using the 3 part with no additives other than cali magic and a little hygrozyme i just using the bottle chart. have not saw anything bad yet. people say stay away from hygrozyme in aero because it causes slime, i havent seen anything like that. i only started using it because i remembered reading about it a few yrs ago and when i took clones off of my diy machine i noticed one had slime on roots, not rot just kinda filmy looking. im thinking most people have problems without a chiller. that is the 1st thing i purchased after i was givin the aeroflo... it is a must have, 1/4 hp for a 40 gallon res and it handles that 40 no problem, i can run pumps 24/7 and the temp is locked at 63... for any type of hydro a chiller is a must have item that many people dont have... i use mine with the nutrient going straight into the chiller. didnt want the headache of having a chiller res and running a coil to my res. been there done that and its a pain in the ass.. but it limits me on using the chiller to cool anything else.

I'll have to check out hygrozyme, I've never used it. I don't use a chiller, but normally don't need it in the winter, never grew in the summer, gonna give it a go this year so I'll probably need a chiller!

You will for sure need a chiller in the summer. You wont make it thru flower without one. Nutrient temp needs to be under 70, 65 being optimum but never over 75 or its just a matter of time before the roots are done. Not to mention if ur up in the attic u will need some serious air conditioning cuz it will be blazing hott. And dont waste time and money on a 1/10 hp chiller. Look on craigslist and everywhere to find at least 1/5 hp i gave 300 for my artica 1/4 hp

I actually built a very nice, very well insulated room, so it's never too bad temperature wise most of the year, but in the summer.....

I think it was a poor decision on my part to not use co2 this run. I kick myself for it. But i just wasnt quite ready for it. Damit man. There is always next time but i must deal with ac issues first. Im staying in a good temp and humidity range but im exchanging air with outside air right not so co2 wasnt a good idea yet. Better planning next time.

The curl i think is from the heat on taller ones they the only ones i see them on. I didnt really see burn but i do agree on the nutes being high. I keep forgetting to go 3/4 strength and just follow bottle. Some of the ppm is calimagic and hygrozyme, if it adds ppm to. Im not sure and when i changed res i had to leave a half gal or so in cuz my pump wouldnt get it all. That alone brought me up to 200 ppm with ro water. I know i shouldnt do that but i havent figured out a good way to work with the res being it is also the table... another flaw in design imo

Oh ya almost forgot. Ph of 6.0 for 3 days running now... i stand corrected thinking it was impossible. Thats funny because when i was doing ebb and flo with a partner our ph always going up or down much but we had a 110 liter pump with an 8 inch air tube in there. Crazy who would have thought. I forgot who said something about that first, but much props on that, great call

Ok yesterday i noticed some definite weight gain. Seems like they were slow to start being some could have had better root masses before i put them in. Could. Be some nice fat colas by the time they are done. Not going to put a number on days but instead watch for the first sign of amber. Still 30 daysish out.. really getting exciting tho. The gg i have appears to be a sativa pheno, the white alien is actually off 2 different plants that were alike except one branched out better and faster but overall looked the same. 2 are either gsc a midweeksong freebie as well as a nlXchronic midweeksong freebie. I hate mixing them up.
