If anyone asks you can say you are building an enclosed entertainment center. You'll run one IR cable out of it to control everything. It needs compartments and venting. Worked for my story. I'm not sure what type of room you have but you will eventually need to have a light tight area for flower so no light leaks in. I started out very similar to you. Just a few plants and a lights in a closet doing internet searches until i came here. as i learned more i realized a closet usually isn't light tight and i needed to build a cab. It was pretty easy but there is always something more you want. So now i have a small cab in the closet that vents out to a storage area. I did all cfl veg and now have an hps for flower. things you need to think about.

It took a weekend. probably about 8-10 hours total. i'm not sure what you mean by rockwool around plastic? If you are talking about the pots I have the plants in, that is not rockwool, its a root pot. Basically a fabric pot that naturally prunes roots and allows more air to hit the soil. That is one of those things I was saying about before that there is always something else.

search craigslist if you plan to buy a large light for flowering. I don't know where you live, but in cali right now everyone is sellling their equipment on CL. Usually you can find everything from containers to nutrients on there.

Im in my 1st REAL attempt right now. I've gone the route your going 3 times or so and all that happend was excitement when it sprouted and anger when it dies. IM NO EXPERT, But, What you have will probably sprout, IF you wanna try to keep it it's best to do some learnin'. You can learn ALOT on here (i have.) That said...you can also be steered wrong, be carefull. I've also gotten good info from JORGE CERVANTES's literature.

Go to your hysdro store or the hardware store and get a 75w CFL. They look like this. What you want is a bulb that has a spectrum of around 6500k. It will say on the bulb or on the packaging. Use that for now and as you read more and your plant grows you will start to learn what else you need.

This ^.

go to any store, walmart, kmart, home depot <- the best for growing pot.

that CFL light can be as cheap as 5 or 10 bucks for the little 23w one... that will atleast keep the plant alive. that pic on the right that is linked here, would be the next step up, a large CFL, these can cost up to around 100 bucks for everything (some take a bigger socket called a Goliath socket, larger then the average bulb, keep an eye out for that).

either way, a lot of the smaller ones, or 1 big 85w CFL will get ya going really well. CFLs will work with good results for the entire grow. 6500k (daylight white, bright white) for veg, 2700k (soft / warm white) for flowering <-- youll need that in 1-2 months.

and get some bigger pots while your there. a few of each size, like a 6in diameter one, a 12in... and if your me, an 18in, and a 24in pot.

Were both from CT, which part you from? And did it really get legalized? It was just decriminilized last year.
EDIT: It is not yet legalized, the (bill?) is attempting to be passed, and is progressing, but has not gone through.

the wrong kind of bulb or sticking a plant in a closet can kill a seedling overnight. don't leave it cold and wet at night or they can die of damping off fungusI would recommend a 75 watt philips (incandescent) plant bulb from home depot (7$) at least, they have clamp lamps for less than 10 bucks also. cfls work but the nice ones can be 30 bucks big 4 foot fluorescents are a better bargain. get a rubbermaid or storage bin to put the pots in and an air pump , air stone for maybe 15 bucks at a pet shop. you can flood them in the plastic tub and the air pump keeps the water moving, after a while lift it and let the water drain, then put it back under the light. a new bulb should be first on the list. if the bulb you have is mor than 65 or 75 watts I would keep it a foot or 1.5 ft distance from the seedligs
