I'm sorry if this isn't allowed go ahead and delete.
I have multiple projects going on at the moment so instead of one mess of a journal bouncing around I can easily find which one i want to post to by having a link of each journal in here.
About me? I'm no noob to this in the sense that I've been around for a handful of years (4-5 i think) But in the grande scheme of things I view myself as very inexperienced and being called so wouldn't offend me in the slightest.
I started out just being the guy putting up the money , yada yada , couple 1000 w lights , 4 people in on the whole thing and we think were gonna get rich. Well they think there gonna get rich , i did extensive reading on average yields , and at that time i was just looking to gain experience , maybe make enough to pay for the equipment bought and stop what was a $375 habit a month (this is 09 , now for same quality you'll easily get it for 200 , cheaper if your tight with your grower). Anyway , it's pretty cut throat times for those who do this for a profit (not 1). Long story short the past 4 years have been a huge waste , my motivation and passion for improving diminished each year. I don't know if it was just me or the headaches that come along with it. One year it was insane spider mites , another year powdery mildew Or the fact that once I moved out with my old (& now new) partner I somehow landed with some terrible genetics so while I had a few really nice yields that means all of shit when the quality of medicine is not up to par with what you or others expect.,, Than i tried getting genetics from dispensaries and seed banks and i just overwhelmed myself with strains trying to veg and flower them all at once , not labeling proper and basically lost any of the strains I was really excited about (northern blue lights to be exact). I've managed to hurdle those obstacles and am ready to move forward more then ever.
My first Journal will cover my "main" grow , which i let a buddy high-jack my Room in return he brang over a lot of equipment thats collecting dust. Light set ups , duct , fans , all that jazz. Before October 2013 i had done dirt only and i was just so sick of the mess (which kept me from spending as much time in the room doing what needs to be done) , and just ready to start getting bigger yields and having better genetics. I had seen his finished product and yields so i wanted in. Mind you this is the same person I put the money up for to get this started 4 years ago. He was homeless leaving in this biker's basement and he wanted to learn to grow because he was dead broke , i didn't want to continue paying so much for high quality nugs and well the owner just wanted to sit back and reap our work. Then there was the bikers buddy , who decided he should be in for 1/4 because he brang over 2 clones and a HPS that didn't end up working. Needless to say the set up went to shit pretty fast. Owner of the house was out of control , constantly fighting with his wife , saying we had to tear it all down , telling my boy he had to go , smoking meth and calling the cops while tweaking. So me and my buddy , best friend rather moved to our own place. Things went decent but eventually after the lease was up we were both ready to go our own ways , not over finances or growing but just the simple fact that neither of us enjoy the whole roomate angle , as far as living with another dude.
Fast forward few years , me on my own , a couple nice big harvests but still no solid genetics and I'm about at wit's end and ready to give up. Prior he had been on me saying he'd gladly bring some equipment to match mine , buy the set ups for DWC buckets and show me how it's done.
So besides the boring stuff like all the cleaning and what not , this is where we are.
He himself is new to hydro , so I'm hoping i can learn some stuff on my own through making that journal , and it will be the first I get started on.
There's 4800 total watts in the flower divided between 8 bulbs (4200 before about 10 minutes ago when i swapped the 400 out of there to put a 1000)
Were a tad more then 1/3 of the way through flower.
Were yet to start vegging for the next round. We have the cloner box full and they are all rooted , just waiting for new growth.
I think he's only had 2 hydro runs so I'm sure there's a lot of stuff going wrong which is why making this is perfect , since anytime i try and put my two sense in he kinda just plays it off and reminds me he's done this before.
Most of this belonds in the actual journal that I'll link to but I'll end it with an example touching on a really silly thing he did.
The only electric timer the shop had when i went allowed a single inlet , just one up front. So i plugged the timer into the main outlet and ran an extension cord. Well i didn't know he was going to set up the pumps and what not to that extension cord , i thought it was strictly for the HPS in which case it would have worked fine. Then this morning , over 3.5 weeks into flower I notice the timer is done for. Looks like he had 2 1000's hooked up , or something along with the other stuff , oh well , the really shitty part was when i realized that for 12 hours every night , evey single bubbler was being shut off along with the lights. With 33 plants he had all the pumps hooked into the extension cord which was set on a timmer. We didn't seem to get near the growth we'd had expected during that first 2 weeks of flower and i imagine I've found the reason. There not terrible but the expected 16 ounces or more per 1000 watt's of light isn't really looking to likely anymore. I hope at least by fixing sooner then later we can salvage some lost weight.
