My Grow Room, newbie mistake or posible good idea.

Yo people,

I´m a newbie from the Czech Republic(Europe).
I so glad to have find this forum, cause I finally have a place to lay a few good ones...(questions). Look I have a grow room setup in a closet, or rather a cabinet. I would like to grow about 4 plants of mary, but I´m afraid
it´s too small for that. Because here in Europe we have centimetres I hope I don´t fuck up the math.

My cabinet is 59.76"(153cm) high, 19.53"(50cm) wide and 23.43"(60cm) deep. As I said, I would like to grow 4 plants at the same time. Since I´m no expert I´d like to ask if it´s plausiblle? I also have a question regarding lights. I´d like to use CFT at least 4 40W, but I don´t understand the "cool(blue)" light and the "red" light. I read that a blue light is used for vegetation, and a red for flowering. But is it really necesarry for me to buy 8 lights 4 blue and 4 red? And how does it work, do I just switch the bulbs and switch to 12/12 to go to flowering? I also wanted to ask you for ventilation ideas for my cabinet? Cause I really don´t have and idea on how to ventilate?.. I know I´m anoying whith these stupid questions, but I don´t know where else to find the answers... it´s not like I´m gonna call information, or ask at a near-by greenhouse (flower shop)

Btw, I was just wondering I have a 500W Halogen reflector... . I´d like to know if I can use Halogen lights? Cause I don´t know what a HID looks like, I
can´t buy it here, I wouldn´t know that to want.

I finally found out what a HPS (high presure sodium) looks like, and I found a possible winner High Presure Sodium bulb 150W www.Svitidla-levne.cz (I know the page´s in a different language, but I´d like to know if 4 of these bulbs(each have 150W and 15000 Lumens) would be enough for a grow room with these dimensions 59.76"(153cm) high, 19.53"(50cm) wide and 23.43"(60cm) deep and 16 square feet to vegetate and flower 4 Plants?! And If this even is a HPS bulb, since it has a socket like an ordinary bulb.

IMHO I think that size would be O.K. for two plants, side by side. We have CFL's(Compact Flouresent Lights) here and I would reccomend them for you because they don't produce much heat, though some some growers would insist you get HID(High Intensity Discharge) lighting such as HPS(High Pressure Sodium) or MH (Metal Halide) and solve the heat issue, but that is more complicated and considerably more expensive. The bulbs (CFL's) need to be in a fixture that can be raised as the plants grow, the light need to be kept a few inches from the top of the plants. Use as many bulbs as you can fit. "Daylight" type cfl's produce enough light in the blue spectrum and are good to start with, then to flower you can switch to "soft" or "warm" cfl's and 12/12 lighting. You can use the "daylight" ones from start to finish if you are really cheap, but I would just get both kinds, they're not that expensive. The halogen is shit as far as growing, do NOT use, sorry. Your cabinet will need at least one hole near the top with an (inline) fan to pull air out. You can make an opening on the opposite side near the bottom to let air in(better) Read "101 already asked questions" sticky and watch solme grow videos here (or on youtube.com, look up "indoor marijuana") to accumulate more knowledge before starting to increase your chances of success, Good Luck!

Thanks very much for yor answer, speaking of a halogen light, not using it, but I was thinking of a HPS 400W with 56 600 lumens High Presure Sodium bulb | MASTER SON-T PIA PLUS E 400W E40 | www.Svitidla-levne.cz but I´m not sure, cause as you can see on the picture, it has a normal socket E40, yet it´s supouse to be a HPS. WHat do you think, is the heat buildup very bad with that kind of light. My ventilation solution or rather my thoughts or: I´ve got an old fan(you know the big one that´s supouse to keep you cool in hot days) and a 8cm computer fan, I was planning on making a hole in the bottom for the big fan to blow air upwards there above the light outake holes for the hot air would be + thought of using the pc fan to cool the light. With that in mind, do you think that a 400W HPS(above) would raise the temp in the grow box?!

You don't just screw in an HPS bulb like a regular bulb! It needs it's own special fixture, ballast and power source! Did you click on the link in my last response? It was a 250 watt HPS complete fixture with bulb. That, or something like that is what you must get if you want HID lighting. That 250 watter is the most I would attempt in such a small space, but you will HAVE to install an INLINE fan to pump hot air out and draw cool air in. If you were balking about buying 2 sets of cfl's I doubt you want to go the HPS route( $150 light+$50fan, min.) since it is more expensive and requires more venting. With cfl's you could get away with one fan like this...NEW Honeywell HT800 Super Turbo High Performance FAN - (eBay item 250170458853 end time Oct-05-07 14:56:45 PDT)

$19 bucks, shipped to you!! Remove the bracket and you have a round fan, right? Make a round hole, the same size, near the top ot the cabinet and secure it. Duct tape around it for an air-tight fit. You could drill maybe a dozen 1/4" holes close together near the bottom on the side opposite the fan to assist air intake. Ok, I finally found a Czech web page that sells these HPS lamps, I´m sorry if I thought wrong, cause I thought it was all about the bulb that I could fit it in any home lamp. But since I had trouble finding what you people discuss here on a czech web page I missunderstood. Sorry. Well I know what need to get now.

Check out this thread....it may or may not help....and Yes you can use the HPS from start to finish you just get more stretch....I would veg for 2-4 weeks with CFL 6500K then flower with HPS.

Hey buddy you might want to do a SOG grow. look that up, just get one female going in there first. Let her get as big as she can get in there. Then clone her to death and do a SOG grow in soil. Your best bet I think

You will get the most weed doing it that way. The best thing to do would keep that mother plant for clones. If you could put her in another room with 24 hour light,she will come back so in about a month you could take another bunch of clones off of her. The SOG method once the clones root you immediatly put them in flower. Once these clones are done your mother will be ready for you to put more clones in there. Just repeat the process over and over.

Ye, but I´m not sure, cause the sog method seems like a lot o work, and I just¨ain´t sure I´d have the time for it. I´ve got school to atend to + my job.

I´m planning on growing in soil, about the strains I´m not sure I was supouse to get a clone from my friend(don´t know what strain) he´s an outdoor cultivator and he lost his plant due to theft... where from europe are you ?

Here there are people growing outdoors but it´s not very high quality

I grow in my closet legally. Only have two plants going right now but I am legally able to have 6 mature and 6 immature going.
