My grow room setup - Your opinion?

Hi, fellow growers and tokers,

This is my second grow. I have a total of 15 plants. 5 feminized White Ice and 10 regular Hindu Kush. I have 2 400W MH and 2 400W HPS, however only 3 lights are on at any one time since the heat build up is unacceptable. Temperature reaches 27.5 C with all 4 lights on and between 23.5 - 25.5 with only 3.

Since I'm in the vegging phase right now I have the 2 MH on and only 1 HPS on. As you can see I have an AC in the room and a fan on top of it. The AC hot air pipe goes all the way to one of the extract fans, the other extract fan has nothing blocking it.

When I leave my house from more than 24 hours, which is about 4 days out of the week every week I turn on the 4th HPS and turn the AC in my living room down to 22C and stick another fan just outside the grow room door to pump in some of that coo air to help the AC in the grow room. The temperature stays between 23C to 24C, so its all good.

I am in week 9 of vegging and am planing on vegging for another 3 weeks before budding. Does it look like its overcrowded in there? Are there may be any overcrowding in the near future?

do you have enough room to grow them that tall, just seems a bit long for veg

Thanks for the reply Bonz. Yes. I have just enough room to grow them that tall. The thing is I have no idea how much longer they will grow after I start budding them. The kush's are quite short but the Ice's as you can see are quite tall. I'm guessing its a strain thing. I have never grown either before.

The reason I wanted to vegetate for 3 months was that my last grow which were 8 Arjan's Haze #1 only gave me a 4 month supply and there are two of us sharing the yield. So I thought this time around I want to grow them for 3 months and then bud.

I will start budding on the 4th of July, when they will be exactly 12 months in veg.

Question here: will a longer vegging period necessarily mean a longer budding period?

Wont bigger plants give you a higher yield?

i would flower now the longer you veg will not give you more bud to a point. the taller the plant gets there will be nothing worth harvesting on the bottom due to lack of light reaching them. the longer veg cycle will be the same time as normal for flower they need a certain amount of time to flower no matter how long the veg that depends on strain and environment ( to tall takes longer for thye trich`s to mature because the light is further away. bigger plants do give bigger yield but mostly a good environment and good care do the best.

i strongly recomend starting to flower right away, they coud double in hight in flower. i use a 430 watt hps and i flower when they are about 1 foot. check my gallery and see the size of mine. shorter plant could mean more dense buds

Looks like ya have a bit of stretching going on... might need to get the lights a lil closer so the plants don't feel the need to reach for them.. Also i would start to flower now rather than wait, so you don't grow out of your space. of course you can lst if you need to but still looks like you have limited room even for that..

Thanks hothousemary but what is lst?

Anyway the reason the lights are so high is that 4 of the plants are quite tall compared to the rest so I had to hang them up higher to so the tall white ices don't get burned.

Bear in mind that 3-5 of the hindu kush plants will turn out to be male so I will have more space in the room during the flowering stage.

It seems to me that we have reached a consensus that its time to flower after the 10th week now. I just need more opinions.

Looks like I'm gonna LST and flower now.

to late the idea behind sog is to keep it short. i watched your vid and i noticed a few things you might want to addresse.

your lights, the way you have them in a row i would put 2 beside each other. the heat issue you say you had 27 is ok they can handle up to 30. so i would get those lights closer, about a foot to 18 inches.
you have some yellowing on some leaves and curling and clawing. tells me theres a nute issue. what have you been giving them? if you know that some are male why wait get rid of them. you will be ok for space but a little concerned about hight.

hmm looks like the light issue is now more important than the crowding issue. I got to keep em high because of those 4 tall one I have in there. The lights are about 10 inches above the taller ones any closer and the tall ones will fry.

Ill try to rearrange the tall once to keep them farther away from the lights and move them down about 1 - 1 1/2 feet but the problem then is that the tall ones will not have much light on the tops.

Im using 1/4 strength every other watering. I water every 2-3 days. I use miracle grow. I have to wait till I start flowering to find out which ones are male. Right?

Thanks fore the tip I will be rearranging the tall plants and bringing down the lights today. Will keep you posted.

maybee try to raise the short ones closer then. water, nut schedule seems fine, but i see you said those nasty words MIRICLE GROW sorry but i have seen more problems with that stuff. that is why i see the plant problems. watch out that mg dosen`t lock your soil up. my opinion is that mg is a lawn and garden, sort of a 7-11 store brand to me. i would get proper nutes for blooming and before you give it to them you might want to consider a flush. what is the n/p/k of your soil?

If ya stay in veg ya can get some cfl lights for the lower plants... also a good vortex exhaust fan would help a lot with the heat.. check my journal how I used one with a duct work and a filter to really help with heat! I have 1200 watts of hps rolling and was getting major heat issues and that helped it out a lot.

you can have a better grow with just two lights and more plants.
way too long in veg.

Raising the shorter plants sounds like a good solution as the bar is quite heavy. I live out in Kuwait and the only fert I found out here was MG couldnt find anything else. However, if you can suggest something else I could order it online and it will be here within a week. What would you suggest? I dont measure my n/p/k I just flush every 2 weeks.
