my grow so far. Advice!!

Hey guys, so here's my setup so far. running a 400watt M.H light with a reflector and a cooling fan to air out the plants. I've also put an air conditioner at the bottom of my grow to level out the temperature as the bulb tends to get pretty hot. my temps atm are around 85/89F which still is a little higher than i'd prefer. I was wondering if the lights are at suitable distance from the plants, as I have one seed sprouted pretty quickly already in seedling stage an others that are still yet to get there. any advice is greatly appreciated. thanks

That is hot. I would try to have an exhaust fan near the top of the tent to suck hot air out. The light is close fore seedlings. I would keep that thing at least a couple of feet away. You might even consider using T5's for that setup.

I dont think the AC is worth it in a small area like that. You could get the temps under control with a good ventilation system.

And 20/4 or 18/6 is good for veg.

..Also, for the seedling stage up to veg. what is the best light cycle to use? thanks
I like 20/4 for veg, before veg it doesn't matter... you can leave them in the dark until they pop through... once they pop through you are veggin'.

I read an article talking about photosynthesis and supposedly the Stoma (pours on leaves that absorb nutrients, which have to close to use the nutrients) end up closing on their own at around 20 hours of sunlight. So regardless of people leaving the lights on for 24 hours straight the pours are still closing off the option for absorbing light at 20 hours. It saves your equipment and electricity bill as well. 18/6 does the same, I just liked that extra few hours of time for them to absorb nutrients. So in reality, whichever one you like... as long as it's 18+ you're fine! 24/0 is completely overkill IMO, but people do it.
