First let me say that I am inexperienced with hash. Until this incident I'd only tried it once, maybe 10 years ago. I don't remember anything about the way it tasted.
Anyways, I recently finished my first grow and decided I'd make some hash with the trimmings. I did so using a silk screen to separate the trichs. I stopped working it while the kief was still blonde, as I wanted a more pure hash for my first attempt. I then put the keif in a cig pack cellophane, wrapped it tight, wrapped it in wet newspaper, put in the oven on a low temp for a bit, then took it out and pressed it with a rolling pin. This seems to be a very common recipe on the internet.
Everything seemed to go smoothly. I ended up with dark brown, very solid hash. The cellophane came away cleanly. I was pretty stoked. That didn't last for long.
I decided to smoke some using the needle, cup, and straw trick. It tasted like absolute ass. It almost had a sort of plasticky, chemical sort of taste. The smell wasn't much better. I used a glass cup so I know that wasn't the problem. Could it have been the needle or the piece of rubber I stuck the needle in?
I wasn't sure, so a week or so later I went at it again. Different glass, different needle, all new setup. Same thing. Nasty ass chemical taste. That leads me to my questions.
Does hash always taste like this? What should it taste like? I knew it wouldn't taste like green, but this was almost like someone sprayed it with floor cleaner. Any input on this would be great. Thanks in advance.
Btw, it got me fried off my ass. That part was cool, it was getting there that was repulsing. Now I have this chunk of hash that I don't want to smoke. What else can I do with it?
