My herb smells like Hay :......./

I dryed it for 3-4 days , then jared it , with a 62% Boveda pack witch btw it works perfect , just can not get over the damn hay smells .Its good herb , this is one dang thing Ive never been able to get over .Does CAM00216.jpg it just take a while of dry and once its dried it will go away .Im about to just throw in the towel .Is there a simpler way that just plain works .And yes Ive have read just about everything I can find on the subject .I feel less then a man right now : / ......

You've dried them, now you have to cure them to get them ready to smoke and get rid of that hay smell. The wetter they were/are when you pull them, the stronger the hay smell ime. Some strains smell more than others as well. Look up curing, it's an easy process where you put the buds into a sealed container, open it daily for an hour or two, then close it again, do this for 3 weeks or so and that hay smell will slowly fade into a nicer/sweeter smell you're accustomed to with cured buds.

You are jarring too soon. There is still too much moisture in the bud. Either let them dry longer or open your jars and circulate the moist stagnant air out several times a day

The boveda packs will help maintain/increase/reduce the RH but imo you still have to burp them, particularly if they're still too wet when you jarred them.

A 7-10 day slow dry (10 is better than 7) and a 6-week curing process will fix that. Look in the Harvesting and Curing room at the stickies. A couple are on harvesting and the slow dry, and for curing there's A Perfect Cure Every Time.

Ok , thanks .You gentelmen are correct I should have died them longer , must have miss read them step . I will apply everything that was spoken of thus far .Newbie error thanks I was a lil worried and didnt want to F*ck them up .Thanks guys )

take the humidity pack out and just keep poppin that jar every 4 hrs or so. You'll get your smell in a cpl days. Putting the jars into darkness helps too.

Don't give up bro I am hang dry an its been 3days n I have hay smell am trying to figure out how to fix it to bro

That's what happened to me.Slight molding,butt I was able to recover.It was my 1st time using boveda,so still learning.:wall:

The answer is strain dependent and imo how wet they were when you pulled them. In the past with outdoor if I pulled them wet they tended to have more of that hay smell with some strains. Once they were dried/cured for about 2 weeks it went away. it's the curing process that will get rid of that smell and it can take 1-2 weeks. Just keep burping them, you'll notice the smell changing as you go.

My stuff smelled like wet grass / hay the first day they went in jars, and after a couple days of burpin the smells starting coming out. Got a really cytrus / lemony smell with a hint of fuel. They went in still kind of wet, but between the boveda 62% packs and burping the jars it seems to be smoothing out into a more dank smell
