PART ONE: The cannabutter:
This part is variable depending on what effects you are looking for. My method is as follows.
Test # 1 – done by a friend who let me watch (since it was my slow cooker).
Put one pound of butter in a slow cooker and set on low to melt the butter. Add water (varies depending on how much shake or flower you use.
Grind up the pot (shake in this case) or break it down as much as you can to release more trichomes. My buddy did it by hand and unweighed. It looked like a bit less than an ounce.
Add ground cannabis and stir it into the mixture, ciover and let the slow cooker do all the work. We stirred occasionally but he only cooked it for 4-5 hours due to time constraints. He has made butter many times but with varying results.
Use a slotted sppon, or better use a strainer spoon, like you use to scoop french fries out of hot grease to collect all the mash. Use a mesh strainer or a shirt to get the remaining liquid out of the mash and add it to a container. Pour mixture into the container, one that is suitable for the volume. Smaller bottles or jugs with an open neck are best since you still have to fish the butter out later.
Put in fridge overnight so the butter can solidify on top of the water. The next day find something suitable to poke a hole in the butter so you can drain the water. Do what you will with the water, but be warned it is so salty if you drink it you may not pee for a week. After you pour all the water off you should be left with a semi-granular looking St. Patricks day green butter. Get cooking!
Test # 2
Mostly the same with more finely ground shake this time. Interesting NOTE, there was a fine powder all over the metal bowl my wife ground it into. I wiped it up with my finger and I ate it. It was finer than iciing sugar and tasted exactly like Green Morrocan hash. We used 36 grams this time and cooked it on low for 8 hours. The output with the same recipe was awesome. I was eating 2 each moring from the first batch but only one seemed to help well form the second batch. Since it ony lasts 6-8 hours I took the second one late afternoon. The result was a more pleasant evening and I slept better than usual.
So next I will post my recipe for awesomely delicious cookies with cannabutter.
