my humble set up

hello everyone, im receiving my medicinal marijuana card soon and im really excited to start growing my own plants :)
im planning on using this old wood cabinet, its dimensions are 50cmx50cmx150cm. it is located in a shed, so it is pretty well insulated.
for the lights im going to use a 250w hps ive got conveniently hanging around, i thought about using a 400w hps but im worried about temperature control, as it gets pretty hot around here and also summer is coming here in the southern hemisphere.
im going to use DWC for the soil, as im pretty familiar with the use of it, one of my friends has a hydroponic lettuce farm and got the idea from him.
will this set up give me a decent yield for my personal consumption?? Feel free to share your thoughts about my set up, any tips are very welcomed! :)
I made this little sketch about my set up, those weird looking things are the inlet/exhaust fans and also a fan attached to the wall to provide good air circulation.

Your 250w should be big enough for that space.
For your first grow I strongly recommend soil, it's much more forgiving than DWC.

Good luck
Totally agree. Dwc for one pot is a pain in the ass. I would do coco personally .

In dwc for a one pot system you have to change the water due to ph swing. One the plant is a decent size its just a pain to change water out

That seems reasonable, I'll use some premix soil they sell in the growshop.
For this size do you think I'll be able to grow 2 auto flowers? Or for my first time stick to one autoflower and maybe practice some LST?
thanks for the responses!

You will also need an extraction fan otherwise the heat even from a 250w will keep climbing.

if smell is of no concern then just use a fan With no filter etc.

Sorry just seen you said Inlet and exhaust fan.

shouldnt need an intake.

just Use passive vents.

make sure exhaust fan is good enough to remove heat and exchange air appropriately.

Why do you want to grow an autoflower? A photoperiod would be a better choice.

I'm not really sure what to grow so I said autoflower, now that you mention it I think a photoperiod would be better as I can manipulate it more and use the most of my growing space, what do you think?

In think you should grow photoperiod. If you're just starting out and have issues early on an auto is going to flower regardless and could leave you with a tiny plant and yield. With photoperiod you have time to fix things if anything goes wrong before "You" decide when to flower the plant.

Whatever you choose good luck and happy growing.
