its a hydro farms 6 inch inline fan rated 306 cfm? thought it was more, but all i was wondering is can i hook up a light dimmer switch to slow it down?? as it only has one speed, it may not be to powerful either i just assumed it was, my box is 2x2x4 the fan pulls air out and pushes it through a carbon filter, but when i turn on the fan it practically colapses my box, cardboard box not actually gonna use it "again" trying to set up a new box made out of wood!! my passive intakes holes are not exactly measured but seem preatty large any help would be awsome!!

no. i tried it with mine. do u have a air filter on it. i placed a drier sheet over the end of my duct. with a rubber baned was just enough. if not try doubling it up.

Are you sure a simple rheostat wouldn't work? It worked with my computer fans.

Also, is this connected to tubing to circulate/vent? If so, you could port the tubing.

it's cause you don't have enough intake....it's that simple. Fan is not too powerful, I got an "industrial" fan in my 4x4x6 it's about 3200 cfm...

thank you that what i was looking for, what about my carbon filter though should reducing speed mean i need to get lower rated filter? are filters even rated my filter's box only says maximum cfm 2000 but no minimum

thank you for replying

i assumed that could be a solution only my intakes are very large and dont really wish to make them larger unless i absolutly have to
but if i do i will how do you keep light from entering your intake holes?

thank you every one who replied

i thought that mabey using a light dimmer might mess up my fan, deff dont want a fire not worth the risk to me, ill shuck out 20 bucks if it means my fan and house will be ok, plus more toys the better and im in no rush im already flowering a few at a freinds house and got clones when ever i want them from a few diff locals so im not pressed for time trying to improve my grow box so i can do it at home again during winter, to hot right now at my house, unless someone knows a miracle way of cooling a box down when its in a hot as f*ck room
