i don't have much dough, so i've done 1 bag of soil per 4sq ft +mixed with existing soil. If I could though I'd do 2 bags of black gold potting soil & 1 bag of nulife mixed compost for every 4sq ft. You should go for that, make sure you get a good even mix.
I don't have much money either. I'll probably do 1 bag of soil per 4 sq ft too. Maybe buy three more bags after that and spread it through the whole thing. Your plants look healthy so I shouldn't need too much soil.. I hope.

Yeah my plants do fine except for my damn cucumber. lol idk whats wrong with it i'm just gonna buy some new ones and plant again. I'll post some new pics soon bro you have to see it. stuff is taking off! yeah a 50-50 soil mix-dirt ratio would be about good dude if you can get it. or just make the soil richer toward the top ^^; compost tea is also great.

Another thing to get would be bloodmeal. ammend some bloodmeal into the mix for higher nitrogen levels. it says 1tsp per 2sq ft i think, so be careful. mix your soil one day & water it for it to get nice and blended. the next day buy your plants and "go to town" buddy. Can't wait to see your garden bro.

Edit: the nitrogen will help your plants take off in those early stages.

I have 100-110 days of warm sun. I'm gonna try to grow tomatoes, carrots, and cucumbers.. They require 100 days from planting to harvest.. I figure I don't have much to lose so I'm gonna risk it.

It's been rainy the past 2 days and there's still plenty of dark clouds outside. My soil is nice and prepared for planting. I was wondering if I should hold off on dropping the seeds into the soil since I don't want them to be washed away by the rain.. Do you think that would happen?

If it's been raining the soil should already be pretty moist so it shouldn't move too much. Still determined to go from seed eh? lol Good luck dude! Give it a shot.

Yeah haha. I've always wanted to grow from seed. I did get two jalepeno plants three days ago though. They're getting taller so that's cool.

I alos downgraded my garden to a 6x9 area.. Not too small IMO.
Planting tomorrow Whoo!

Alright so my tomatoes and carrots sprouted.. They have tiny leaves.. When's the best time to add organic pesticides? And is there a certain brand you guys trust when it comes to pesticides?

LOL I transplanted three tomatoes and they all died.. Live and learn haha.. Normally I'd be down about that but I find it kinda funny. Probably because I'm high as a bird.

Other than that my garden is doing alright.. I keep forgetting to take pics everytime I go out to the garden, I'll try to remember soon lol.

google chinese plum...my guess is it's grafted onto root stock therefore you can't grow fom seed. perhaps you can find a local grower who will give you a cutting. that would be ideal.

My garden is about 50x70. Just brought in a big cardboard box of tomatoes and peppers in yesterday and three big bags of sweet corn. My green beans don't usually make it to the kitchen as I like to munch em fresh when working in the garden lol. Hep next time u want seeds check out baker creek heirlooms at rareseeds.com. great product and a huge selection. They also have some really cool varieties of stuff you would likely never find in any store. As far as the fertilizer I use a little bio-tone when transplanting. Usually does the plants good for 3-4 weeks at which point I start using bone and blood meal. All this garden talk now I need to get out there and pick some raspberries before this heat dries em out. Best of luck with the garden man its super relaxing and rewarding once u get the hang of it. Kind of addicting.
