My Legal Sunny Organic MMJ Garden 2011- How about Yours?

Just to post a couple pics of my 2011 garden. I found out I had cancer (stage 4) right at harvest time last year. After the big fight (surgery and chemo) for over a year, I've beat the tar out of it! Hope it stays that way. Got this garden in with some family help. Am doing it myself again this year of 2012. The local cops came for a visit and actually loved it! Said it was the purdiest garden they'd seen yet. Aw gee, shucks. Lotsa work, organization, cleanliness and love. Oh, and two green thumbs. Been doin' this for more than a few years.... happy to be here with you all...

Brudda for sure!! Only 4 years older than me. We probably went to different high schools together. Or colleges. Been doing this for at least 20 years out of 40. Glad to be in your company...

Kudos to you for beating Stage 4 cancer! You're a rock star! To grow a garden like that at the same time is amazing. With cancer in the rear view mirror, hard to imagine what your 2012 grow will produce! Looking forward to updates. Again, my heartfelt congratulations. I know what you did, and I'm in awe.

Suspected you were in my generation when you said you were a medic in Nam! Hubby flew modified Hueys (INFANT...terrible acronym) same time. (Prior reference to smoking in Texas was Ft. Wolters.) No wonder you grow such magnificent trees! You saw this plant for what it was long ago.

Blue Dream after horse attack.jpgOne of my 2 Blue Dreams after my horse discovered them. Second plant and hastily built fence in background. One of the many lessons learned this first fine year. Horses like pot a LOT!

Thanks for the support, you guys! And from Down Under, too..wow! I started growing with my bro and some boyfriends in So Cal in the early 70's...guerilla for sure. I have learned so much more in the past 10 years about growing than ever before. Plus, I have a degree in horticulture, which helps. Being legal and getting to grow out in the open sun makes it pretty wonderful. I average 2.5 to 3 lbs per plant. Some more, some less.

Here in N. Cali last year we had rain until the 3rd week of June (which is rare). I had mostly clones that went into bud (planted on May 21st) and would NOT come out! Bitches! Hahaha...so, I had to replace with what I could get ahold of at that point. Ended up with some interesting varieties. All my seedling plants just laughed at the clones and grew tall, bushy and strong. Seedlings are the way to go for me, but not always practical for finding varieties. I just have learned to quarantine them and clean 'em up before they go out.
So, planting on July 1st with mostly new clones kept me stressed out about them getting big. Oh, no worries there! They blew past what I ever expected from them. I don't know why I worry about that at all, ever. They always get bigger than I expect. Too big sometimes. I know...that sounds nuts...but really hard to deal with when they are so giant...and you have 24...and you're only 5'2". Hahaha! Ok, I'll stop complaining.
This year I'm going to go with 18 and really just focus on making them the best ever. Give 'em more room.
Peace out, Peeps!

Mountaingarden...I, too, am a mountain dweller. We have some obstacles to hurdle, for sure. You know, every year is a learning experience. Always SOMETHING to learn each year, and to remedy and to avoid next year. My 2010 garden...when I learned I had cancer (right at the same time I got done with harvest), was the hardest year so far. So many problems cropped up that I hadn't had to deal with before. Kinda like everything at once. It was a very stressful year. I didn't have those problems in 2011 because I did my homework and talked with friends who I respect and avoided all those problems. If you ever need advice, and I can help, feel free to tap me on the shoulder.

Thanks for the offer, Grace! I will for sure take you up on it. Although hope I made all the big mistakes last year, one never knows... :-) Our situations are very similar. Bought 40 fairly remote (by rohad) acres in a coastal mountain range 20 years ago. Only at 500 feet, but catches and and all the rain and I now realize has waaaaay too much air traffic! Even legal, elicopters were the source of Condition Red paranoia by October. :-/ Next grow will be in hoop houses. Will limit the height, but I'm also 5'2, which is why there's a stool in the picture of the horse ravaged Blue Dream!
